DOW (Dow Corning) was a pioneer in Silicone Structural Glazing and weather proofing applications
used in high performance buildings.

Our first four-sided silicone structural glazing project was constructed back in 1964. Fast forward
today, this has been in operation for 55 years and the sealant is still functioning according to its
intended performance.

Under normal conditions of design, application and maintenance, the expected lifetime of DOWSILTM
silicone in structural glazing applications is greater than 50 years. This has been verified recently by
two independents scientific studies by The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing
(BAM) in Germany and the ift Rosenhiem, also in Germany. Both studies provide compelling
scientific support for service life estimates to be 50+ years . Details of the studies is available for
