SSG4600 UltraGlaze*
SSG4600 UltraGlaze structural glazing adhesive is a high strength silicone elastomeric adhesive
and is an excellent candidate to consider for structural bonding and sealing of glass and metal
in curtainwall and façade applications. SSG4600 UltraGlaze is a two-component product (part A
+ part B) that provides fast adhesion and strength build; and when mixed cures quickly to a
very high strength, tear-resistant durable silicone rubber.

Product Advantage

Compared to current SSG4400，SSG4600 has the advantage of：

 Primerless Adhesion
To most of the common substrates, especially for powder coating、fluorocarbon coating
aluminum and substrates that are difficult to stick, SSG4600 can build excellent
adhesion without the need of a primer. Thus, operator can reduce an additional
procedure to apply primer and improve the productivity.

 Fast Adhesion Build

In order to meet demanding project schedule, SSG4600 is able to enhance early
stability of assembled unitized frame, build up tight adhesion within the first days which
can improve the productivity. Even lower to 5 degree centigrade, SSG4600 also can
build adhesion in 1-2 days depending on the façade design.

 Lower pumping viscosity

SSG4600 has lower pumping viscosity to extrude from normal pump, it has higher
extrudability even with a lower pressure. It is available for wider and deeper joint
design and approved for “L” shape design.

 Safety Guarantee
Compared to SSG4400, SSG4600 has higher Ultimate Strength which is 50% higher. It
will have 10 times safety factor if we continue to use 0.14MPa Design Strength.

 Feasible Design Concept

SSG4600 has ±25% movement capability that doubles the capacity of SSG4400. It
offers more design space for high-rise building with large panel. In the meanwhile, ±
25% movement capability solves the critical movement requirement for skyscrapers.

 Pass Bomb Blast Test and Hurricane Impact Test

SSG4600 successfully passed the Bomb Blast Test and Hurricane without any bond loss
on test substrates which shows excellent performance.

Recommendations

- Although SSG4600 can build excellent adhesion on most common substrates, as

always, we recommend that adhesion testing should be verified under both
Momentive/GE laboratory and actual jobsite conditions, and monitored in the
sealant application progresses.

- The viscosity of Part B is adjusted to be close to Part A in order to achieve

consistent mixing performance. Therefore, electric stirrer is recommended to stir
Part B thoroughly before mixing with Part A.
 - SSG4600 can build fast adhesion in short period and becomes hard that close to
atmosphere. However, it is still soft within sealant body and required 3-7 days to
achieve fully cured depending on different design. However, it will not impact the
panel movement and installation.

- Normally 20 psi is recommended as Design Strength for SSG4600. SSG4600 has

feasible Design Strength of 28psi depending curtain wall design, please consult
Momentive/GE representative for details.
