Un-cured Sealant
▪ 1 part ▪ 2 parts
▪ One component (795, 995, 791, 991) ▪ Two components (983, 982, 121)
▪ Factors affecting curing rate of 1-part product: Joint • 2 part products have chemical curing. Curing starts
Depth Temperature and Humidity once the base and the C/A are mixed.
• Spacers and backer rods. • Can fully cure deep section joints.
• Full adhesion is typically achieved fully within 1-3 days
• Deep section sealant must be given enough time to
release by-products during time to avoid reversion

• The First Stage is performed with a clean, white, lint free cloth soaked
in a cleaning solvent.
• The Cloth is used to vigorously rub the paint surface.
• The solvent lifts the waxes, dirt and oil from the surface and suspends
them in solution.

SITE INSPECTION
• Assess sunny versus shady places Factors
• Look at the sidewalks if there is an overhang • Product selection
I. Do they look bad in the sun, good in the • Substrates
shade?
II. Take a cut in each place, squash it • Cohesion and Adhesion failure
III. Measure the physical material conditions, Substrate Preparation
width, shore ness, elongation, elastic • Sealant Movement capability
recovery • Substrate & Sealant material strength
• others external factor
• Product expired
• Destructive test – 6
inches
• Video – DOW790 US
• Cut bond lines as close as
possible
• Cut along 6 inches
• Pull 90 degree
• It passes if cohesive
failure happens
• Check cut profile , rod,
cleanliness
Elements to consider:
• Structural bite dimension
measurement.
• Glueline thikness dimension
measurement. Peel adhesion
on all substrates.
• Sealant uniformity of cure and
sealant mix. Absence of
bubbles or air entrapment in
the sealant. มี
