Class Notes: Introductory Psychology

Topic: Memory

Memory is the ability to store and retrieve information.

The three stages of memory are encoding, storage, and retrieval.
Encoding is the process of converting information into a form that can be stored in
memory.
Storage is the process of maintaining information in memory over time.
Retrieval is the process of accessing information from memory when needed.
There are three types of memory: sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term
memory.
Research Paper: Impact of Social Media on Mental Health

Social media use has been linked to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and
other mental health issues.
Social media use can lead to feelings of loneliness, low self-esteem, and social
isolation.
The constant comparison to others on social media can negatively impact mental
health.
Social media use can also contribute to cyberbullying and online harassment, which
can have serious consequences for mental health.
More research is needed to fully understand the relationship between social media
use and mental health, and to develop effective interventions to address these
issues.
