Video Critique

As an audience of the wonderful performances of the Traditional Folk Dances in the Philippines,
I am grateful and happy to see the preservation of our culture and ethnicity through these
dances. As a critique, I would like to dissect my opinions and perspective into different sections;
the First one is their knowledge in their performed dances. I would like to commend the
directors and staff behind the performances for having a depth of knowledge in the Folk
Dances. This is actually observable if we look closely at the movements and expressions of the
dancers. Also, the place of origins are actually labelled before the performances and this is
something that I really find helpful to the audience. Their choreography is actually aligned to
their respective origin and I know this for I have researched some authentic folk dances. Second
is their organization and synchronization, though there are some instances where I can clearly
see that the performers are just doing adlib I would still like to commend the performers for
executing clean steps and movements and the director for having an organized entrance and
exits of the performers. Lastly, the props and authenticity of the dances. We can conclude
already that these dances are not authentic since it is performed in stage productions.
However, I can clearly see the efforts of the performers, directors, crew, and staff in trying to
look at the performances as close to their origin. Kudos to the props and sounds of the
performances for making it look as if I was in its place of origin. Overall, I would like to
congratulate all the people behind this wonderful production for a successful performance. I’m
looking forward that our ethnicity, traditions, and culture will be preserved for future
generations to come.
