Late 19th century, when his Recollect friar of San Nicolas Diocese of Cebu was installed in Danao Today, the big old house in the picture is owned and occupied by the heirs of Man Toring. This old house is one of the historic houses in Danao City for it was once occupied and be the quarter of the Cuartel De Civilis aside from it, it was also a cabaret which means (night club) in town when Spanish Occupation in Danao. This old house can be located near the Danao City Central School along A. Bonifacio St,. Poblacion, Danao City before the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Church and the other Cuartel De Civilis house can also be found in CM Enriquez St. Poblacion, Danao City near the National Road. In 1902, primary schools was introduced in Danao. We all know that American Occupation strictly focus also in education. Educational goal during the American period is to promote democratic ideals and way of life; formation of good citizens, including the rights and responsibilities of people. Part of their mission was to build classrooms in every place where they were assigned and through this occupation it urged Filipino people specifically Danaowanon children of school age were forced and obliged to attend classes. By the encouragement of the American, the enrollment has increased. The room that was built by the Spaniards during the Spanish era in year 1863 which is now the(Danao City Central School) is not enough to cater students increasing number of enrollment that’s why American occupied the space and used as a School ground for Danaowanon children in order to have enough knowledge. Classes were held in this old tabique house. In 1940’s, this old house was occupied by the Japanese forces during the World War II and become the headquarter of those people who sinned against the Japanese Rule in Danao. Today present, this old house is still manage and preserve by the great grandchild of Mr. Mundo and based on my experienced, as I entered this house when I was in grade 11 it gives me hair standing in my nerves because there are lots of Saints and Patrons inside of this old house and it’s nice because it is one of the historical houses Danaowanons have and has a historical value. It is undoubtedly a part and parcel of the history of Danao.
