Pinakbet Pizza (Ilocos Norte & Ilocos Sur)

Pinakbet pizza is a Filipino pizza variety originating from Ilocos Norte. It's
traditionally topped with vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplant, long beans, okra,
and bitter gourd, making it suitable for vegetarians.
The Dragon Fruit Capital of the Philippines (Ilocos Norte)
While driving the Ilocos region, we were struck by multiple stands selling dragon
fruits, all over the place.
The dragon fruit known as “saniata” to locals, is produced by Ilocanos all year
round.
Dragon Fruits are beautiful to look at and packed with several health benefits. The
fiber in the fruit helps with digestion and regulates blood sugar spikes and lowers
bad cholesterol.
Dragon fruits are also full of antioxidants which help clear the body of cancer-
causing free radicals. And, the fruits are rich in Vitamin B1, B2 and C, which help
repair tissues and keep the skin healthy.

Kilawin Pugita (LA UNION)


Trying out an Ilocos specialty called the Kilawen. This consists of meat like beef,
pork, fish, or goat cooked in an unusual method using the acidity of vinegar or
calamansi. This process makes the meat a lot tastier.

Lechon bagoong (Pangasinan)

Bagoong is fermented fish sauce that is used as a cooking condiment or sauce to


accompany fried food or green mango. Bagoong is produced in various parts of the
country. However, the home of bagoong is located in Lingayen, the capital town of
Pangasinan. Lingayen is also one of the largest bagoong exporters in the country.

It was in 2019 when the innovation that is lechon bagoong was unveiled to the
public. It was even featured in a segment of Unang Hirit, when they came to visit
the town.
