What is the basis of your concept of human rights? Read the following passages and reflect on the message. (20
points)

BASIC EQUALITY
Since all men possess a national soul are created in God’s image and likeness, they have the same nature
and origin that have been redeemed by Christ and enjoy the same divine calling and destiny. Thus, basic
equality of all must receive increasingly greater recognition. True, all men are not alike from the points of views
of varying physical power and diversity of intellectual and moral resources. Nevertheless, with respect to the
fundamental rights of person, every type of discrimination, whether social, cultural whether based on sex, race,
color, social condition, language, or religion, is to be overcome and eradicated as contrary to God’s intent.
Therefore, although rightful differences exist between men, the equal dignity of a person’s demands a more
humane and just condition of life.

1. In what ways are men different from one another?
Men have differences like their interests, thinking, talents, languages, personality traits, life experiences and
more.

2. In what ways are they the same?


If us people have differences we also have somethings that are the same like we are born not made, we have to
work hard to live and more.

3. According to the church teaching above, what should everyone try to overcome or eradicate?
What should everyone work for?
We should work for our lives and value it because we only get one.

4. After reading the passage, what statement that strikes you and why?
Nevertheless, with respect to the fundamental rights of person, every type of discrimination, whether social,
cultural whether based on sex, race, color, social condition, language, or religion Because it doesn’t
matter anyone’s race, color or any of it, everyone should be treated with respect, but now in today’s world we
have a virus called racism and it spreads to anyone.
