1. Enumerate and explain the different modes of transportation.

 Road transportation

Road transport refers to the transportation of people and goods across a network of roads. A
road is a path between two points that has been paved or otherwise improved to allow travel by
both motorized and non-motorized carriages. The main benefit of road transportation is that it
allows for door-to-door delivery of goods and commodities and offers a very economical way to
move, load, and unload cargo.

 Maritime transportation

When commodities (or persons) are carried by sea routes, the term "maritime transport" is used.
Pre- and post-shipping operations may occasionally be included in maritime transit. The
flexibility and adaptability of maritime transportation allows it to accommodate any kind of cargo
and transportation requirement.

 Air transportation

Air transportation carries goods and passengers through airways by using different aircrafts like
passenger aircraft, cargo aircraft, helicopters, etc. Besides passengers it generally carries goods
that are less bulky or of high value. Air service transportation is also one of the transports of easy
and fast to get from one destination to another destination no matter for domestic or
international.

 Rail transportation

Train travel is another name for rail transport. It is a mode of transportation that uses cars that
travel on tracks (rails or railroads). It is one of the most significant, frequently used, and highly
affordable methods of transportation for both people and products across long and short
distances.

 Pipeline transportation

Pipeline transport is basically the use of pipelines to transfer gases, liquids, or sealed pneumatic
capsules to other locations. Materials can be transported for industrial, commercial, or
agricultural usage. Sewage, coal, and ore are all frequently transported by pipelines. Even some
facilities employ beer pipelines.

2. Cite the effect or impact of this pandemic condition to each mode

(qualitatively and quantitatively).

It is clear that the transport sector was the one that was most negatively impacted economically
after a year of the Covid 19 outbreak. The capacity of businesses to transport customers from all
over the world and the freedom of movement were affected by the travel restrictions that were
implemented to stop the virus's spread. As a result, transportation revenues drastically
decreased, which led to the deduction of transportation workers' wages and the layoff of further
transportation workers.

Transportation's role during the Corona Virus pandemic changed from moving people to playing
a crucial core role in ensuring that freight and important workers could continue to move, which
caused a sudden shift in the revenue resources for transportation to keep the operations running
and experiencing an unexpected financial shortfall.

The quality and quantity of transportation, in every mode, has noticeably lessened due to the
restrictions during the surge of the pandemic. But today, as we improve our way of fighting the
pandemic, we are continuously getting back to what we are before the pandemic. The transport
services throughout the country are also continuously moving its way to get back to its original
tracks. People and goods are now able to get moving into destinations with only minor
restrictions.

3. Cite at least five department/agency that demonstrate the importance of

transportation in the Philippines.

 Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC)

Committed to the maintenance and expansion of viable, efficient, and dependable
transportation and communications systems as effective instruments for national
recovery and economic progress.

 Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB)

Functions include licensing of domestic and international airlines and regulation of fares
and rates for the carriage of persons and property.

 Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)

Regulates and supervises all motorized land-based transportation services.

 Land Transportation Office (LTO)

Rationalizes the land transportation service and facilities and to effectively implement the
various transportation laws, rules, and regulations.

 Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA)

Integrates the development, promotion, and regulation of the maritime industry in the
country.

4. Cite the importance of transportation in:

 Economics
When transport systems are efficient, they provide economic and social opportunities
and benefits that result in positive multiplier effects such as better accessibility to
markets, employment, and additional investments. In terms of overall expenses, efficient
transportation lowers costs across various economic sectors, whereas inefficient
transportation raises costs. In addition, the effects of transportation may not always be as
intended and may have unanticipated repercussions.
 Politics
Transportation is essential to how these political organizations operate and carry out
their functions. An area's governance and administration should be able to communicate
and receive data, facts, and information to and about its residents. Regulations and
legislation that must be adopted and followed, safety information, and other information
needed to raise awareness could all be included. The ability of a government to properly
communicate and disseminate such important information to the entire nation is a key
indicator of how effective and capable it is.
 Environment
An efficient transport sector is important for economic development and for the
wellbeing of people. Good transportation system could drastically affect the environment
is such a way that pollution and the like could possibly lessen.

 Education
Education plays a major role in country’s development. With good transportation, the
things that go with education would benefit. Students, teachers, and school staffs will not
be late at school, materials will be delivered on time, etc. These are some examples of
how transportation could education.
