Arnis, also known as kali or eskrima, refers to a category of Filipino martial arts that
emphasizes the use of weapons – whether it be fighting sticks, blades, or improvised
weapons. In arnis, the weapons are used as an extension of the body.

What is the latest in Arnis?

Modern Arnis is the system of Filipino fighting arts founded by Remy Presas as a self-
defense system. The Department of Education includes the sport as a Physical Education
course. Arnis was included among the priority sports in Palarong Pambansa (National
Games) in 2010 where Anyo is one of the popular ones.

12 striking techniques in Arnis:

 #1 – Left side of the head attack.


 #2 – Right side of the head attack.
 #3 – Left side of the body or torso, to the left arm or elbow.
 #4 – Right side of the body or torso, to the left arm or elbow.
 #5 – Thrust to the stomach.
 #6 – Left chest stab.
 #7 – Right chest stab.
 #8 – Left lower leg.
 #9 – Right lower leg.
 #10 – Left eye poke.
 #11 – Right eye poke.
 #12 – Strike to the crown/top of head

I realize that this topic is exciting because most of the students love to go outside and perform some
activities like this. I know that its inevitable to get hurt when we perform and practicing arnis so
immediately told them to be careful.
