Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in MAPEH

Physical Education 10

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. identify various cheer dance hand movements and positions;
B. appreciate the value of cheer dancing in the improvement of health and fitness; and
C. execute the hand movements and positions in cheer dance.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Learning Competency: executes the skills involved in dance


Topic: Cheer dance – “Basic Hand Movements and Positions”
Reference: Physical Education and Health
Materials: PowerPoint presentation, laptop and video clip
III. PROCEDURE:

A. Preparatory Activity:
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Attendance
 Review
B. Lesson Proper:
A. Activity (Motivation): Video Analysis
 The teacher will present a video clip.
 The teacher will let the students watch the video and afterwards she will ask the
students some questions.

B. Analysis:
The teacher will ask them the following questions:
1. What have you observed from the video being presented?
2. What skills in in gymnastics did you see?
C. Abstraction:
The teacher will show the different skills in cheer dancing. The students will
watch as the teacher performs and observe how each movement are executed properly.

A. HAND MOVEMENTS

1. Beginning stance - feet together, hands down by the side in blades.


2. Cheer stance - feet more than shoulder width apart, hands down by the
side in blades.
3. “T” Position - both arms extended straight out to the side and parallel to
the ground, relax the shoulders
4. Half “T” positions - both arms parallel to the ground bent at the elbows,
fists into shoulders.
5. Clasp - Hands clasped, at the chin elbows in.
6. Clap - Hands in blades, at the chin elbows in.
7. Overhead clasp - arms are straight, above the head in a clasp and
slightly in front of the face.
8. Low clasp - arms extended straight down, in a clasp and slightly in front
of the body
9. Touchdown - arms extended straight and parallel to each other, fist
facing in.
10. Low touchdown - arms extended straight down and parallel to each
other, fist facing in.
11. High V - arms extended up forming a “V”.
12. Low V - arms extended down, forming a “V”.
13. Tabletop - arms bent at elbows, fists in front of shoulders
14. Punch - one arm extended straight up, one arm on hip in a fist.
15. L Position - one arm extended to the side with the other arm extended in
a punch motion.
16. Diagonal positions - one arm extended in a high “V” and the other arm
extended in a low “V”.

B. LEG/FEET POSITIONS

1. Feet together
2. Feet apart
3. Dig (front/side)
4. Hitch, liberty, scale
5. Lunge (front/side)

D. Generalization:

1. “What have you learned with our lesson for today?”


2. Can you give me the different cheerleading hand movements and positions that we had
discussed?
3. “Do you think learning basic cheerleading movements gives some benefits to our body?”

E. Application:

“Cheer Up and Dance”

1. The teacher will group the students into three. (with minimum health protocol)
2. Let the students make their own routine/choreography combining the hand movements and
feet positions in cheer dance.
3. They may choose at least 4-5 combinations at least 16 counts each
4. Let the students repeat twice the routine to show mastery of the skills.
5. The criteria below will be used to assess their performance.

Criteria
Coordination - 30%
Synchronization - 40%
Over-all Performance -30%
Total 100%

V. ASSIGNMENT
Search another skill in cheer dance aside from what have been discussed today and write its
