I. Objectives
a. Content Standard – The learner demonstrates understanding of:
1. art elements and processes by synthesizing and applying prior knowledge and skills;
2. new technologies that allow new expressions in the arts.
b. Performance Standard – The learner creates artworks using available media and natural resources on local topics,
issues, and concerns such as environmental advocacies, ecotourism, and economic and livelihood projects.
c. Learning Competencies - The learner:
1. identifies art elements in the various media-based arts in the Philippines.
2. identifies representative artists as well as distinct characteristics of media-based arts and
design in the Philippines.
3. discusses the role or function of artworks by evaluating their utilization and combination
of art elements and principles.
d. Instructional Objectives
At the end of the period 80% of the students with 75% proficiency should be able to:
a. discuss photography as an artist and as a form of communication;
b. take photographs of things that resembles a letter and form a word from these pictures;
c. explain the role or function of photography in our lives today.

A. Topic: MEDIA-BASED ARTS AND DESIGN IN THE PHILIPPINES
B. Sub-topic: PHOTOGRAPHY
C. Materials: speaker, laptop/tablet, pictures of sample photos

A. Opening activity
UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
Arrange the jumbled letters to reveal the words.

Tell what media-based art and design is shown in the given pictures.
C. Development of the lesson
1. Activities
Picture analysis.
Tell something about the pictures. Tell what the message of the photographs is for them.
Discuss Photography as an artist and as a communication.
Identify the elements of art in photography.
Name some well-known Filipino photographers.
2. Analysis
Question:
a. Do you agree that photography is an art? Explain your answer.
b. How can photography be a means of communication?
c. If you are to express your opinion about a certain topic by using photography, which topic will be it be? How
can photography help you express your idea clearly?
3. Application
“ Images with a Message”
Think of a 4 or 5 letters word. Then, look for the things in your surroundings that resemble the letters of the
word you like. Take a picture of them using your available gadget. Make a collage of the pictures of the letters to
assemble the word.
4. Abstraction
Explain how does photography contributes to our daily lives.
