    Animal cruelty

    News reporter: Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Today we will discuss a problem known by all nowadays.
    Cruelty towards animals in the Republic of Moldova. Actions taken by adults, but also children that can't
    be left without any punishment. According to Art.222 "Cruelty towards animals" , cruel treatment or
    tormentation of animals which caused mutilation or the death of it is punished with a 500-700
    conventional units fine or with charity woek from 100 to 180 hours, or with 1 year in prison.

    Now, we'll give the word to our reporter:

    Reporter: Thank you, so as you know animal cruelty is a very serious issue. At the moment, im in a
    teenage girls home, who owns a cat. Id like to ask her some questions, based off her knowledge on the
    tirany.

    Reporter: Renata, have you had other pets before?

    Renata: Yes, i've owned a hamster and a dog.

    Reporter: In your opinion, would your pets enjoy living here, with you as their owner?

    Renata: I think they would enjoy it a lot, they would sleep all day, and eat, and i'd play with them
    frequently.

    Reporter: What do you know about animal cruelty? Have you ever been a martor to it? What did you
    feel then?

    Renata: People, no matter if they are an adult or a minor, who do such things just because they like
    doing so, should seek professional help.

    Also, I've seen an example of animal cruelty, some minors that were tormenting a kitten. Of course i
    intervened, but when i saw the reaction of the kitten, i felt pity towards it and i was sad. I understand
    that kids don't know better at that age, but their parents could educate and watch over them, so
    something like this wouldn't happen.

    are people even after prison or penalty who won't change. If you happen to witness this type of actions,
