1. Attempt any two of the following questions. (10x2 = 20)

(a) Prepare a C.V. with details (imaginary) upto postgraduate level.

(b) Write an e-mail to the branch manager of your bank complaining him about rash
behaviour you received from one of his staff.

(c) Write a letter to your friend congratulating him/her on their brilliant success in the
Class XII Final exam.

(d) Write a report either (i) on a devastating storm that claimed a few lives in your locality
or, (ii) on water-logging in your neighbourhood which throws life out of gear during
monsoon.

(e) Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:

Ruskin Bond has written "Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra". It has won him fame. His simple
diction, lively portrayal of characters and scenes win the hearts of the children and the
adult alike. In "Room on the Roof" , the character Rusty is Ruskin Bond himself. The sense
of alienation has helped him to explore himself and thus express himself beautifully as a
writer. He is a hot favourite among children. Almost every year he comes to Kolkata to
attend Kolkata Literary Fest and the children stand around him asking him sundry
questions, which he loves to answer jovially. Though he is much aged, he never misses any
opportunity to open up to the tiny tots, the teenagers and grown-ups. He loves to get a feel
of childhood about which he mostly writes.

(i) Discuss how Ruskin Bond enjoys the company of children and why? (5)
(ii) Write about the two books which have won him wide acclaim. (5)
