In the first quarter of 2022 (January 01 to March 31), a total of 15 statements – including one
social media statement – were issued by the UN from Headquarters, Regional and Country level.
Twelve statements were issued from the HQ / Regional levels and three statements were issued
from the Country level, of which one was issued on International Women’s Day on behalf of the
UNCT and two were joint news releases.

The briefings also include inputs from the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General
and follow-up questions from the Press Corp, yet 60 per cent of the mentions in the briefings in
quarter 1 of 2022 were instigated by inputs shared from the UN Country Team.

During the first quarter of 2022, there has been a steady growth of content on Myanmar shared
on social media by the UN. At this stage, the data collated is only from Facebook and Twitter,
however, several agencies are also using other platforms such as YouTube and Instagram and
future reports will attempt to include these platforms.
A total of 711 posts have been made on social media of which 556 – or 79 per cent – have been
from country level.

65 per cent of the social media posts across Headquarters, Regional and Country levels were
advocacy messages, while 27 per cent of messages highlighted ongoing work on the ground of
the United Nations in Myanmar.
The remaining 8 per cent of posts on social media were ‘General’ posts covering issues such as
job vacancies, global agency campaign posts or seasonal greetings and wishes.
