A 2 year old toddler whose mother when asked about nutrition history says she feeds her baby about
100ml of rice and daal mixture with proper consistency thrice a day with some vegetables in it and
occasionally offers 1 teaspoon ghee in a meal per day. In between the meals, she also occasionally offers
her baby one or two crackers in some days or half packet of wai wai or kurkure or single fruit (an apple,
banana, orange, guava, grapes). She is still breast feeding the baby once before he goes to sleep.

a. How would you start counselling on nutrition to this mother?

b. Can you roughly begin to calculate above toddler’s total calorie, fat and protein based on above diet
that she is offering on regular basis?

c. Also write down his total calorie, protein in gram, fat in gram requirement per day?
