COURSEWORK
Regulations
Students must submit all materials supporting their coursework listed in the deliverable section.
Please make sure that you are aware of the rules concerning plagiarism. If you are unclear
about them, please consult your program coordinator/lecturer.
Plagiarism is presenting somebody else’s work as your own. It includes: copying information
directly from the Web or books without referencing the material; submitting joint coursework
as an individual effort; copying another student’s coursework; stealing coursework from
another student and submitting it as your own. Suspected plagiarism will be investigated and
if found to have occurred will be dealt with according to the procedures set down by the SEGi
university/ UCLAN.
Students will have 2 Plagiarism policies in place – double award students the UCLAN
Plagiarism policy will override SEGi Plagiarism Policy. The appended table provides the
summary of the 2 policies.

Single offence – 0 marks – affected assessment to be Minor Plagiarism: poor in-text referencing
re-submitted and student can only secure pass mark and few paragraphs being copied – stern
warning and or counseling
Repeat offended – 0 marks and no opportunity to re- Moderate Plagiarism: copying some
submit – student can retake courses paragraphs and results without in-text
referencing – awarded next lower grade
Major Plagiarism; Most of the work is copied
and cases of repeat minor and major
plagiarism – Fail and re-take or suspension or
dismissal

The coursework should exhibit formal research skills i.e. with a table of content, proper
citations, references, and appendixes.
The coursework write up must be able to demonstrate critical analysis and application of
both theory and practical issues to the company that you have selected.
Student may include additional relevant data/information apart from the proposed
guidelines in conjunction to your research. Additional marks will be awarded for such
attempt.
All written reports MUST be submitted for similarity checks to Turnitin.
Extensions
Authorisation of the late submission of work requires written permission. Your lecturer is
authorised to give permission for one extension period of between 1 and 10 working
days where appropriate evidence of good reason has been accepted and where
submission within this timescale would be reasonable taking into account your
circumstances. Requests for extensions should be made prior to the submission date as
extensions cannot be given retrospectively.
Late submissions
If you submit work late without authorisation, a universal penalty will be applied in
relation to your work. The appended table summarises the SEGi/UCLAN penalties.
SEGi/UCLAN Penalties
Submission within 5 working date following published deadline – given a pass (50
marks for the component of assessment)
Submission later than 5 working days – awarded 0 marks for the component
Unauthorised late submission at supplementary will be automatically be awarded
0marks for the component assessment

Students are required to complete this assignment by answering ALL Questions with word
count of 2000 words, excluding tables, figures, references, and appendices. Please answer in
paragraph form.

Below is the information that should be included in your report. Students are expected to write
the report in paragraph form. Students are also expected to provide the relevant Literature
Review to support and justify your writings.
PART A
Question 1
Introduction of the Company: Critically elaborate the company’s background, including which
industry it is from. Describe the products and/or services that is provided by the company in
Malaysia or your home country. Include the structure of the company, the mission and vision,
and the key challenges it is expected to face soon. In addition, describe the role of the
management of this company. You may include diagrams to support your writing.

Question 2
Analysis of the Company: Critically write a concise situational appraisal of the company based
on the following factors:
a) The political, legal, economic and technological environment
b) The Trompenaars’s model of national culture differences applied to management

PART B
Question 1
The Gaps: Critically reflect on the situational appraisal of the company’s branch that is
operating from another country (not Malaysia), based on the following factors:
a) Four approaches (economic imperative, political imperative, quality imperative and
administrative coordination)
b) The Trompenaars’s model of national culture differences applied to management

Question 2
The Issues and Solution: Critically explain the problems and/or opportunities between the
analyses from Question 2 (Part A) and Question 1 (Part B). Critically specify the management
related problems and/or opportunities that the company is likely to face. How will these impede
the company to survive and flourish in another country? Support your answers with relevant
facts and literature review.
Critically suggest the best strategy to assist the company to survive and flourish in another
country. You may consider the strategies for the company to solve their problems and/or
strengthen its opportunities. What ethical considerations you can advise the top management to
achieve a good company’s image in another country?

Additional Information
Word count: 2000 words. The word count is indicative. Try to stay within allocated word
count as far as possible. Marks are gained for facts and conciseness, and marks are lost for
unnecessary material.

formatting. Use 1.5 lines-spacing with 12-point font size, and pages must be numbered. Use
Times New Roman font ONLY.
TurnItIn Report - The similarity index should be less than or equal to 15%. Reports that
exceeds 15% or without the TurnItIn report will not be graded. 5 marks will be deducted
from the total marks graded for violating this rule.

from SEGi University (https://segi2u.blackboard.com/webapps/login/) that is provided to
every SEGi University student.
You DO NOT NEED to submit any hardcopy version of your coursework/assignment.
