Plagiarism
As defined in the University of Windsor's Student Code of Conduct, plagiarism is the act of copying,
reproducing or paraphrasing significant portions of one’s own work, or someone else's published or
unpublished material (from any source, including the internet), without proper acknowledgement,
representing these as new or as one's own.
Plagiarism applies to all intellectual endeavours: creation and presentation of music, drawings,
designs, dance, photography and other artistic and technical works. (Students have the
responsibility to learn and use the conventions of documentation as accepted in their area of study
and instructors have the responsibility of informing students in writing of any significant individual
interpretations of plagiarism.)

Choose an example of a failed project and write 2-3 paragraphs describing why the project failed,
mention something that happened or failed to happen. Also, describe why and how this can be a
“Lesson learned” for use when managing future project. Reference what you have learned in the
lectures. You may choose one of the following:
Problem 2
Assume that energy demands in the province are expected to increase by ~ 15 TWh/year. In
response to these increasing energy demands, the province is considering a few options. The first
option is to refurbish an existing nuclear energy facility that is currently scheduled to be
decommissioned. This refurbishment would include an expansion. The second is to upgrade wind
turbines at an existing wind farm to allow them to produce more energy. The third “energy
efficiency” option is a program-based option aimed at encouraging residents to reduce their usage
(and therefore, lessen the need to invest in refurbishments). The province has hired an outside
engineering consulting firm to compare the options. The consultant provided the decision matrix
below:
You have been asked to help make sense of the matrix above. Complete the analysis and arrive at a
preferred alternative. Discuss any concerns that you many have with the evaluation.
