Republic Act no. 1425 popularly known as the Rizal Law is all about an act
to include in the curricula of all public and private schools, colleges and
Republic universities courses on the life, works and writings of Jose Rizal, particularly
Act 1425 his novels Noli me tangere and El Filibusterismo, authorizing the printing and
distribution thereof, and for other purposes.

2. What did you learn from the article?

After reading articles about the historical background of the Rizal Law, it
made me realized how hard it is to pass a bill because there will always be
antagonists and protagonists to the bill. I’ve learned that we should be
obeying laws made in our country because it is for our own good and in the
end of the day, we’ll be benefited by the law. Each law encountered trials but
the proponents of these fought for the law to pass just to cater our needs. I’ve
recognized that Rizal subject is indeed vital in the curriculum of students for it
is part of the history.

3. How does the article relate to the lesson?

The article Republic Act no. 1425 is related to lesson because this law tackles
about the life, works and writing of Rizal and it should be teach to every
courses.

How does it develop and/or promote nationalism to you?

Rizal Law will remind me what our heroes fought for, so that when the time
comes that someone in great power attempts to take it from us, we need to
fight back. It is a reminder of what should we believe in and what should we
protect and fight for especially in when our freedom and nationalism is at
stake. By doing so, we can say that we are heroes of own future.

How does it develop and/or promote patriotism to you?

Most of us almost forgot the history that our country has, and this Rizal law
awaken my mind especially the younger generations about the real essence
of being brave enough to help not just ourselves to rise into success but also
the country that we are living in to have success as well, thereby awaking
their patriotism and will make us a stronger nation.

How does it develop and/or promote volunteerism to you?

Because it tackles the life of Jose Rizal, he looked for ways to help Philippines
without shedding of blood. He wanted help through his pen. He believes that by
writing about the cruelty of the Spaniards he can open the mind of the Filipinos to
fight back. It has opened my mind and heart that you should people who in needs
like Rizal who sacrifice himself for the country.
