1.0 INTRODUCTION
THE HPCL HAS AWARDED THE WORK OF COMPOSIT WORK @ MS
NAHARA & SV-2006.

2.0 PILE DETAILS

Pile load test was conducted on R.C. Bored pile with diameter 450mm.
Following table summarizes the pile details.

Pile Details
Type of Pile R.C. Bored
Pile Diameter 450 mm

Depth of pile 16 Mt.

Location T.P NO.1

Date of Casting 18.11.2021

Date of Testing 31.12.2021

Method of Test Initial Vertical load test

3.0 DETAIL OF TEST
3.1 Initial Vertical Load test has been carried out as prescribed in IS: 2911
(part-4) 2013 and the result of the same has been derived as per relevant
clauses of code.
3.2 Head of the pile was made to horizontal plane. A 500mm dia. 25mm
thick bearing plate was placed on the head of pile for 1 no. Of Hydraulic
jack capacity 0f 100MT fitted with hydraulic pump and calibrated
pressure gauge of least count 5KN. to rest on the plate. A 500mm x 25
mm thick bearing plate was placed on the top of jack.
3.3 Vertical incremental load of 4.5mt. was applied (as 20 % of the design
load 0.20 X 20.8 = 4.16mt) by obtaining reaction from the loaded
platforms, in accordance with clause 7.1.2 of the above code.
3.4 For recording settlement 4 nos. Calibrated dial gauges each of 0.01 mm
least count were kept on top of plate on pile head by immovable datum
bar.

4.0 TEST PROCEDURE

4.1 Complete set up was adjusted at initial readings after application and
release of small seating load. Vertical incremental load of each
increment of 4.5 MT. was applied and the corresponding settlements
were recorded for each stage of loading on 4 dial gauges.
4.2 As per clause 7.2 of IS: 2911 (part-4) 2013 each stage of loading was
maintained till rate of displacement of the pile top is not more than 0.2
mm/h or until two hours have elapsed, whichever is earlier subject to a
minimum of 1h.The maximum test load will be maintained for 24 h.
4.3 As per clause 7.2.1.1 (b) of IS: 2911 (part-4) 2013, vertical loading on
single shall be continued till one of the following takes place:-
1) Applied load reaches 2.5timesthe safe estimated load; or
2) Maximum settlement of pile exceeds a value of 10 percent of pile
diameter in case of uniform diameter pile and 7.5 percent of bulb diameter in
case of under-reamed pile
5.0 FINDINGS
The result of vertical load test is tabulated as below:-
Vertical Load Test
Design Load = 20.8 TON

Load to be applied = 2.5 Times x 20.8 MT=52 MT

Load applied = 52 MT

Total settlement = 7.43 mm

Net settlement = 6.79 mm

Rebound = 0.64 mm

IN VIEW OF THE ABOVE FINDINGS, AS PER PILE DESIGN LOAD 20.8 TON. THE TOTAL
SETTLEMENT IS LESS THAN 18MM. THE PILE IS SAFE TO CARRY THE DESIGN LOAD
20.8 MT.
