NOTE: later vibration dampers have finned covers. Be

careful not to damage the fins.
Df7351 1. Remove two bolts (1) that hold vibration damper (2),
aM install Tool (A).

2. Removethe remainder of OOIts(1).

3. Slidethe vibrationdamperout onto Tool ~

4. Place a nylon strap through the center of front
vibration damper (2), and tasten the nylon strap to a
suitable lifting device. The weight of a narrow
vibration damper is approximately290 kg (639lb).
The weight of a wide vibration damper is
approximately
~ kg (882 Ib).
5. Remove front vibration damper (2). RemoveTool
(A).

4. Removethe two top bolts that hold adapter (3) and
the rear vibration damper. InstallTool (8).
5. Attach a strap and a suitable lifting device to
adapter (3). Removethe remainder of the bolts, and
remove adapter (3).
6. Move rear vibration damper (4) out 00 Tool (B) until
a nylon strap can be placed through the center of
rear vibration damper (4).
7. Fasten a nylon strap aOOa suitable lifting device to
the rear vibration damper. Remove the rear
vibration damper. The weight of a narrow vibration
damper is approximately290 kg (639lb). The
weight of a wide vibration damper is approximately
400 kg (882 Ib).

8. Remove Spat:a'(5).
NOTE: The following steps are for installationof the
vibration dampers.
9. InstallTool (8) in the crankshaft.
10. Put spacer (5) in position on Tool (8). Be sure the
heads of the four bolts that hold the adapter
assemblytogether fit into the holes in spacer (1).
11. Align the No.1 TC mark on vibration damper (4)
with the No.1 TC mark at the center of the
crankshaft. Be sure the bolt holes are aligned. Be
sure the heads of the small bolts at the center of
the vibration damper fit into spacer (5). Install
vibration damper (4).
12. Installadapter (3). Be sure the bolt holes are
aligned. Be sure the heads of the small bolts at
the center of the vibration damper fit into adapter
(3).
13. Installthe bolts that hold the adapter to the
crankshaft. Tighten the bolts in a diagonal pattern
to a torque of 1350 :t: 150 N-m (1000 :t:
110 Ib ft).
14. Remo\IeToo (B), and installTool (A) in adapter
(3).
NOTE: Vibration damper (2) must be installedwith the
No.1 TO mark turned 36 degrees in a clockwise
direction (as seen from the front of the engine)from the
No.1 TO markon vibrationdamper(4).
15. Installvibration damper (2). Be sure the bolt holes
in the vibration damper are aligned with the
threaded holes in the adapter. Be sure the heads
of the small bolts at the center of vibration damper
(2) fit into adapter (3).
16. Installthe bolts that hold the vibration damper to
the adapter. Tighten the bolts in a diagonal pattern
to a torque of 1350 :!: 150 N.m (1000 :!:
110 Ib ft).

Start By:

The vibration damper is filled with 600,000 CS 3. Removethe bolts that hokj cover (2) to hub (3) aoo
Silicone. This is a very thick substance and must be ring (4), and remove the oover.

to avoid skin irritation. The 762 mm (30 in) diameter
narrow vibration damper uses 1.4 liter (1.5 qt) of
5P-4363 Fluid. The 762 mm (30 in) diameter wide
vibration damper uses 2.4 liter (2.5 qt) of 5P-4363
Fluid.

4. Remove bearings (5).

Lay the vibration damper flat with fill plugs (1) up.

2. Remove fill plugs (1), and let the vibration damper

settle for 8 hours at room temperature.

5. FastenTool (A) and a hoist to weight (6). Remove

weight (6). The weight of weight (6) in a narrow
vibration damper Is 171 kg (376Ib). The weight of
weight (6) in a wide vibration damper is 339 kg
(747 Ib).

8. Remove bearings (7).

7. Remove O-ring seals (8) and (9).

1. Installa new O-ring seal on ring (4), and install

cover (1) with the No.1 TC indication to the
outside. Be sure the cover is engaged with the
dowels before installingthe bolts. The dowels must
project a distance of 5.00 to 7.00mm (.197 to
.278 in) from the surface of ring (4) and hub (3).

2. Installa new O-ring seal (2) in hub (3). Be sure the

fill pons in hub (3) are down against the table.

8. Turn hub (3) and ring (4) CNeron 8 piece of

cardboard.
9. Remove the bolts that hold cover (10) to hub (3)
and lift cover (10) and mg (4) off hub (3).

3. Install cover (1) and the ring on hub (3). Be sure the
cover is engaged with the dowels before installing
the bolts.

4. Turn the cover. hub and ring over.

10. Remove cover (10) from ring (4), and remove the
O-ring seal.

11. Remove O-ring seal (11).

12. Thoroughly clean all parts. and inspect for wear or

damage.

5. Install bearings (5) around the hub. 11. Install cover (10) with the No. 1 TC indication to
the outside. Be sure the cover is engaged with the
dowels before installingthe bolts.

8. Fasten Tool (A) and a hoist to weight (6).

7. Carefully lower weight (6) on to bearings (5). 12. Connect the outlet tube of cylinder (11) to a fill
port. Be sure both plugs are removed.

Wear protective gloves to avoid skin irritation.

13. The 762 mm (30 in) diameter narrow vibration

damper uses 1.4 liter (1.50 qt) of 5P-4363 Ruid.
The 762 mm (30 in) diameter wide vibration
damper uses 2.4 liter (2.50 qt) of 5P-4363 FI&8d.
Put the correct volume of fluid in cylinder (11).

14. Close the cylinder and connect the pressure air

line to a dry 240 kP8 (35 pSll air source. Allow

Remove & Install Crankshaft Front 5. Slide adapter (3) out on Tool (A). Fasten a strap and
