Implementing proposals in a situated area of a community can be challenging due to

various factors, this are the challenges I faced in implementing my thesis proposal in
the situated area of community where it is located.
 Cultural differences: Communities have different cultural beliefs and
practices, which may affect the implementation of proposals. For instance,
some communities may not be receptive to certain technologies or practices
due to their cultural beliefs. Since my proposal is biophilic, not everyone is
familiar with this design concept because it is not common in every hospitals.

 Resistance to change: Some community members may resist proposals that

involve changes to their way of life or traditions. This may be due to fear of the
unknown or a lack of trust in the proposal's proponents. The town of
Mangaldan have a limited medical and health care facilities like Rural Health
Unit and Barangay Health Centers. This small facilties which they may
already used to is one of the problems may faced by the proposal. They may
have in mind that these small health facilities already exist and there will be
no need to have a Medical Center in one Community.

 Lack of community participation: Community participation is critical for the

success of proposals in situated areas of communities. However, some
community members may be reluctant to participate due to mistrust, apathy,
or lack of awareness, because other people don’t want to participate and and
not interested on the proposal. One of the challenge I faced when I surveyed
my proponents. Some of them did not agree for surveys and interviews and
some of them rejected me.

 Limited access to information: Limited access to information can hinder the

implementation of proposals in situated areas of communities. This includes
access to technology, data, and relevant research. The Biophilic Concept is
not common in a health care facility which may be affect the proposal
because people in the community is lacking knowledge about biophilic, what
can biophilic do to human health.

To overcome these challenges, it is essential to involve community members in the

proposal development process from the outset. This includes consulting with the
community, understanding their needs and concerns, and involving them in decision-
making. It is also crucial to build partnerships with local organizations, institutions,
and governments to ensure that proposals are implemented in a sustainable and
effective manner. Finally, it is essential to monitor and evaluate the impact of
proposals to ensure that they meet the community's needs and expectations.

SWOT Analysis

• The site is located in an urbanize area

• Unique and innovative design
STRENGTHS • Accessibility to potential users and visibility to
public
• Limited service
• High flood risks
WEAKNESSES • Noise pollution is present in the location of the
site
• To help communities boost economic development
• To provide service to other nearby towns that do not
OPPORTUNITIES have a hospital
• Can be qualified as one of the best hospital in
Pangasinan

• Flood susceptible area

THREATS • Patient dissatisfaction
• Pests

WEAKNESSES

LIMITED SERVICE - We know that the Medical Centers are not as big as other General

Hospitals which can provide all the facilities and needs. Medical Center provides a limited

services that can facilitate patients in times of emergencies for a moment so that the patients

will be given first aid and in case the sought service is not available the patient will be

immediately transferred to the nearest hospital with a services that patient’s needs.

HIGH FLOOD RISK – Since the site is located in slightly low land, it tends to be in high

flood risk. The proposed modern biophilic medical center is planned to be elevated and adjust

the height of its natural ground line opposite the road itself to prevent this situation.

NOISE POLLUTION IS PRESENT IN THE LOCATION – Noise pollution is present in

the location of the site because the proposed project is adjacent to the road, these may be cause
of the vehicle noises passing by but this problem can be fix by putting trees as insulators on the

side of the proposed structure to prevent the noises from entering the building.

THREATS

FLOOD SUSCEPTIBLE AREA - site is located in slightly low land, to prevent this, Keeping

drainage systems, such as gutters and downspouts, clear of debris can help prevent water from

accumulating around the building and planting trees, shrubs, and other vegetation around the

proposed structure can help absorb excess water and prevent soil erosion.

PATIENT DISSATISFACTION - not all people likes the plants and natural environment so

patient dissatisfaction is inevitable especially for people who do not like these things but if you

can make them understand what plants can do for the human health, it can change their

perspective as well.

PESTS – The proposed structure used a biophilic design elements such as trees plants and

green walls which can be attacked by various insects, also the biophilic concept is used in a

health care facility which means that using insecticides or chemicals are prohibited. The pests

and insects can be prevented by choosing a good plants that can repel pest. A good example of

this is the mint and oregano plant also keeping your indoor garden clean by removing dead

plant material which can attract pests. Regularly inspect your plants for signs of insect damage

and remove any infested leaves or branches. By using these natural methods, you can help

prevent insect infestations on your plants without relying on harmful insecticides.
