a. Social justice – The view that everyone deserves equal economic,
political and social rights and opportunities

b. Environmental justice – All people have a right to be protected from
environmental pollution, and live in and enjoy a clean and healthful
environment
c. Social issues – Topics or subject that impact many people
d. Food security – Everyone has access to enough, safe, healthy and
nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and preferences

1.1.2 SOCIAL INJUSTICE IN COMMUNITIES

a. Climate change
b. Unequal access to education
c. Racial equality
d. Sexual orientation

1.1.3 ENVIRONMENTAL INJUSTICE

a. Pollution
b. Climate change

1.1.4 ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND ENVIRONMENTAL INJUSTICE

a. Environmental injustice
- Poor people have unequal access to basic resource such as water and
energy
- People with fewer choices suffer the most from pollution, work that is
harmful for their health and lack of resources
b. Environmental justice
- The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of
race, color and national origin
- Putting the right situation of environmental injustice

INVESTIGATION

1. CRIME
1.1 Crime contributes to social injustice by causing unemployment, affecting
education and discrimination is already prevalent on society

1.2 Copper cable theft from electricity infrastructure has led to power outage
in communities
- Vandalism of water infrastructure can result in water shortage
- Incidents of cable theft have disrupted essential services

1.3 Leaning on a support system of trusted friends and family can offer
emotional reassurance, while considering medication under professional
guidance can help manage acute symptoms of anxiety or depression. they
must seek support to a person they feel safe and open to , acknowledge
yourself and accept the range of emotions you might be experiencing and
give yourself time to heal and mostly avoid self-blame.

2. YOUTHS ACTION TO PARTICIPATE IN CIVIC LIFE

2.1 The public life of the citizen concerned with the affair of the community
and nation
2.2 Social thinking skills:
The ability to consider your own and other thoughts, emotion, beliefs, intentions
and knowledge
Constructive thinking skills:
A way of thinking constructively about your world and environment
2.3
- Being reluctant to participate in civic action to address social injustice can
have a significant negative impact on social relationships within
communities.
- If some members of a community are unwilling to participate, it can lead to
distrust among community members, it can also hinder progress and
prevent meaningful solutions from being implemented
2.4
- Youth typically possess physical stamina and agility, essential attributes for
community patrolling, intervening in potential crime situations or even
participating in sports and recreational activities that keep them and their
peers engaged and away from criminal temptations.

- Youth often have strong ties to their communities and are more familiar
with local issues and challenges. This connection enables them to identify
crime hotspot, understand root causes and collaborate with local residents
to find effective solutions
2.5
- This can happen when cholera bacteria spreads from a person into drinking
water or water used to grow food or prepare food.
- This can also happen when stool (poop) in sewage gets into the water
supply.
- Vegetables grown with water containing human waste.
- Raw or uncooked fish and seafood caught in waters polluted with sewage.
- Food and drinks sold by street vendors

3.
4. UNEQUAL ACCESS TO BASIC WATER SERVICE

4.1 Unequal access to basic services – The availability of resources and rights
to few people rather than everyone

4.2 There are no grocery stores anywhere near where we live because major
grocery chains refuse to invest in our neighborhood.

- Banks refuse to locate bank branches in our neighborhood, so the only
place you can cash your paycheck is a check cashing store which charges a
hefty fee.
- Our city has closed so many of the public schools in our vicinity, so us
children we have to walk long distances through dangerous streets to get to
school.
- Public transports does not provide service to where you live while
providing service to wealthier areas. You can’t afford a car, so you are
forced to walk miles every day to get to work.

4.3 Poorly maintained pipes and sewage systems can lead to leak or overflows,
allowing contaminants and disease causing pathogens to enter the water
supply. If treatment plants are not properly maintained, they may not
effectively remove harmful microorganisms from the water. Infrastructure
failures such as pipe burst or water main breaks, can lead to disruptions in
the water supply

4.4 A lack of sanitation and sanitary waste management systems can reduce a
community’s access to clean water and lack of access to clean water can
allow disease to run rampant, sometimes creating epidemics of water-
borne infectious agents. Without clean water for drinking, cooking and
personal hygiene, communities become susceptible to water borne
diseases such as cholera and dysentery. Poor water quality affects various
aspects of society, from the spread of disease to crop growth to infant
mortality. In some regions of the world, lack of sanitation infrastructure,
water treatment facilities or sanitary latrines lead to dire clean water
crises. Water access impacts food security and therefore increases hunger
rates.

4.5 Some community members may undermine the achievement of social

justice in water management through overconsumption, wasteful
practices, hoarding, pollution, lack of cooperation and socioeconomic
dispraise. These actions can exacerbate water scarcity, inequality,
hindering equitable access to water resources. Addressing these challenges
requires education, awareness campaign, stronger regulations, community

engagement, economic incentives and collaboration. By promoting
sustainable practices, holding individual accountable, fostering collective
action and addressing power imbalances, communities can work towards
more just and inclusive water resource management . it is essential to
approach these issues with empathy and a commitment to inclusivity to
overcome barriers and achieve social justice in water management for the
benefit of all community members.

CONCLUSION

The youth holds a pivotal role in advocating for responsible water usage within
their communities. Through educational campaigns, social media engagement,
collaboration with local authorities and businesses, and personal demonstration
of responsible practices, young advocates can bring about positive change and
create a sustainable future for generations to come in communities. They can also

organize awareness campaigns and workshop to educate the public about the
importance of water conservation and the challenges of water scarcity.
Some other things they can do they can also work with local government to
develop water conservation policies , support businesses that are committed to
water conservation and be a role model for responsible water use like turn off the
tap when brushing your teeth , taker shorter showers and always fix leaks around
your home. Create a blog that could provide information about water
conservation efforts. You must have the water conservation app that could help
people track their water usage so they shouldn’t over use the usage of water.
