In Another World

The poem entitled “In another world” written by Rasaq Malik is all about
mourning of losing loved ones, In another world I want to be a father without
passing through the eternal insanity of mourning my children, without
experiencing the ritual of watching my children return home as bodies folded like a
prayer mat, without spending my nights telling them the stories of a hometown
where natives become aliens searching for a shelter. I want my children to spread a
mat outside my house and play without the walls of house ripped by rifles. “In
another world” is very frequent in the poem because, in reality, the author knows
none of he wants are possible but only in a different world, also he’d been
imagining what he would want it to be like if he was in a different world or “In
another world”.
The speaker wants to address or trying to give the reader an abstract
thinking when it comes to how the events have made him change for, the speaker
is upset that he didn’t enjoy the moments of his children. The tone of the poem was
serious for it is abundant about his children’s future.
The author made use of literary devices: simile and imagery for, to visualize
children’s “I want my children to tame grasshopper in the field, to play with their
dolls in the living room” he intended for his audience to a child playing a
grasshopper or a little girl playing a doll in the living room. These theme of the
poem is that make sure every moment is precious that we must spend the little
moment with our loved ones, also if we see it in other round the theme of the
another world can be better than the one we’re already in.
