Plan Quarter 3rd
Session 1
I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts of geometry of
shapes and sizes, and geometric relationships.
The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and solve
B. Performance Standards accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.
The learner illustrates polygons: (a) convexity (b) angles and ( c ) sides.
C. Learning Competencies M7GE-IIIe-2
II. CONTENT Illustrating Polygons Convexity
III.LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learner’s Material pages
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from

B. Other Learning Materials Grade 7 Mathematics: Patterns and Practicalities pp. 397-401
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson Consider the following sets of figures below.

Guide Questions:
1. What can you say about the pictures?
2. Identify whether the given pictures are polygons or not.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson 1. From the new sets of pictures that represent a polygon, what are their
similarities? diferrences?
2. Consider the following polygons.

Figure 1: Figure 2:

a) Identify the vertices of the polygon.

b) Connect the vertices using broken lines.
c) Compare the result.
C. Presenting examples/ (NOTE: The teacher will now introduce the concept of polygon and its convexity.)
instances of the new lesson
Guide Questions:
1. How do you determine a polygon?
2. When can you say that a polygon is concave? convex?
(Given pieces of picture cut-out in different polygons, students will identify the
name of the polygon/s and arrange the pieces to get the picture to the TRIVIA.)
TRIVIA: He is the father of Geometry.

D. Discussing new concepts and Divide the class into two groups. Each group is given a concave polygon, they will
practicing new skill create the equivalent convex polygon.

Example:

Decagon

E. Developing Mastery With the same group, using Tangram they will assemble the puzzle to create an
image in a given time.
F. Finding practical applications of
concepts and skills in daily living

G. Making generalizations and How do we illustrate polygon convexity?

abstractions about the lesson
H. Evaluating Learning Using the Tangram identify the convex polygon used and assemble to an image
that is being asked.

I. Assignment/Agreement Using the different polygons, mix together at least 5 polygons

(concave&convex) to make your own logo.
