Giving a talk and two new Indigo radio shows...

Anna is giving a talk at Assumption University on April 3rd at 6pm as part of their Women Studies Program lecture
series.

Approaches to Gender Based Violence - Carceral or Community?

Controversy regarding the use of the criminal justice system as the prime response to gender-based violence (GBV)
is a defining characteristic of the anti-violence movement in the United States. Differences amongst scholars and
activists point to varied understandings of the root of GBV and what approaches would be more likely to make sus-
tained change. This talk will touch on these varied understandings, failures of the criminal justice system in address-
ing violence, and community approaches to GBV. Discussion will also include the do's and don'ts of being a first re-
sponder to GBV and the importance of checking in on those around us.

Stream Clark University undergrads talk all about Sexual Assault and College by IndigoRadio | Listen online for free
on SoundCloud

This week, Indigo host Anna Mullany passes the show over to her undergraduate students at Clark University in
Worcester MA where she is currently teaching. A group of her public health students created a show - "Let's Talk
About It: Sexual Assault at Clark" - this show tackles the very real issue of sexual assault on the Clark campus.
Bringing in existing literature, Bea, Claudia, and Sarah investigate the structural causes of sexual assault and the
underreporting of it. To supplement their conversation, they are joined by Clark's Title IX coordinator Brittany
Brickman to explain more about Title IX and initiatives at Clark, as well as by Amira, who herself experienced as-
sault at Clark.
