I have an internship as an executive Travel and Hospitality at Manchester Travel Agency.

We received your application for a journey in Europe last week.
I made a proposal for Barcelona.
Barcelona is the second largest city of Spain.
I will tell you about transport options, hotel opportunities and activities.
I have some reasons why I chose for Barcelona.
The best period to travel is between April and June, the weather will be nice.
It is also a child friendly city.
Moreover there are a lot of activities to do for children and adults.
The transport options are by airplane of train.
You can get there quickly by airplane but it is expensive because it is bad for the environment.
If you would like to go by train you can take more luggage with you. On the other hand it
takes more time to travel.
I searched for two different hotels.
The two options are:
- Hotel Barcelona Cathedral
- NH Collection Podium Barcelona
Hotel Barcelona Cathedral is located in the district Barri Gotic. In the area there is a train
station that’s about a 9 minute walk. facilities in the room:
- An outside pool
- Breakfast for a fee
- Internet connection
- Air conditioning

Then we have NH Collection Podium Barcelona. This one is located in the area from Placa
Catalunya and La Rambla. The metrostation Arc the Triomphe is 200 meters away. There are
also enough taxi points. facilities in the room:
- An outside pool
- Child friendly restaurant
- Luggage service

I would recommend the second one because I have been there and the staff provides good
service. If you had a long day, outside there is a swimming pool with a view over the city. The
children can swim and the parents can get a drink at the bar. Lastly, the transport options are
very good in the city.

Two possible activities are the aquarium of Barcelona and Fonta Magica.
The aquarium is the largest one of Europe. It is in the oldest port of Barcelona. It counts 450
different fishes, think about sharks and tropical ones.
Fonta Magica is a show combined with music, water, lights and firework. It is in the district
Montjuic. You can see the show every week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It attracts a
large audience even the people who lives there.

I have an overview of the total price.

The costs of the transport and hotel depends on the season. If you would like to go in the high
season it is more expensive than in the low season.
I made an overview based on the month May and 4 days/3 nights. I did this because you are
bound by the school holidays
Tickets airplane: around €2500 return
Included: luggage, seats, taxes and child discount.
I found this amount on the Transavia website. You will fly from Rotterdam to Barcelona El
Prat.
Traintickets: around €500
Children up to 14 years travel for free but you still need to book a ticket for them.
This is from Amsterdam Central Station to Barcelona.
Hotel Barcelona Cathedral: €900
NH Collection Podium Barcelona: €700
Included breakfast, taxes and surcharges.
Fonta Magica: €0
Aquarium: €150 is two times family pack.

Just in case something happens before you go on your vacation, I would recommend you to
arrange a cancellation insurance. You must need it if you need to cancel your vacation last
minute. The insurance is only for valid reasons such as an accident or the death of a family
member. I hope this won’t happened of course but you can never be too sure, right.
If you book your vacation between now and five days you will get your breakfast free for one
day.
