4 Significance of the study


This study, “Study on Student-Parent Academic Performance in
Mahay Integrated School”, will give veritable importance to the
following:

Students. The findings of the study will provide information to the


students on their academic performance especially to the student-
parents.

Parents. This study will benefit the parent for it will provide them details
on how to deal with their children being a student-parent and to help
them realize how essential their guidance to the academic performance
of their children.

Teachers. This study will give some insight to the teachers. The findings
of the study will serve as a guideline for the teacher on how to consider
the effects of being a student-parent to their academic performance,
since the teachers are involve in the learning process of the students.

Future researchers. This study will also benefit the future researchers.
The outcome of the study will serve as the basis, whose problem on
study deals with the academic performance of the student-parent.
1.5 Scope and Delimitation of the Study
This study was focused on academic performance of the student-
parent of Mahay Integrated School-SHS as determined by their
Academic and personal profile.

This study was delimited to the students who face both school and
household responsibilities. The respondents pf the study were those 8
students identified as the student-parent of Mahay Integrated School.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter will presents the methodology of this study. This
includes the Research Design, Research Respondents, Research Locale,
Research Instrument, and Data Analysis Procedures.

Research Design
The researchers used descriptive and correlational type of research
design. It is descriptive because the researchers surveyed the student-
parents of Mahay Integrated School. It is also a correlational type of
research design because the researchers correlated the relationship of the
academic performance of student-parent of their profile.
Research Respondents
Research respondents were the student-parents of Mahay
Integrated School, particularly those students who enrolled in Grade 11
and Grade 12. The researchers floated the survey questionnaires to 8
identified students.

Research Locale
Mahay Integrated School is located in Barangay Mahay, Butuan
City, Philippines. The school offers Humanities and Social Sciences
(HUMSS) strand under the Academic Track. With just a lesser number
of enrollees, researchers looked into the academic performance of the
student-parent in Senior High School.

Research Instrument
In this study, the researcher will be using questionnaire. The
questionnaire is a set of orderly arranged questions carefully prepared to
answer by people designed to collect facts and information. Researchers
used Likert Scale Method in the survey questionnaire to specify the level
of agreement of the respondent to the statement.
Data Analysis Procedure
In this study, percentage, serving questionnaires and interviews are
used to describe the profile of the respondents. Test of means was also
used to identify significant differences of academic performance of the
respondents such as Independent T-test and ANOVA.
