Random Input

Is a lateral thinking tool, it is very useful

when you need fresh ideas or new
perspectives during problem solving. Random
input is a technique for linking another
thinking pattem into the one we are using.
Steps:
• To use Random Input, select a random noun
from either a dictionary or a pre-prepared word.

• Use this noun as the starting point for brainstorming your

problem. You may find that you get good insights if you select a
word from a separate field in which you have some expertise.

• You choose a good word, you will add a range of new ideas and
concepts to your brainstorming.
Cost Benefit
Cost-benefit analysis is widely used and
relatively simple tool for deciding whether to
make a change or not. Cost-benefit analysis
finds, quantifies, and adds all the positive and
negative factors.
First ones are the benefits. Then it
identifies, quantifies, and subtracts all the
negatives, the costs. The difference
between the two indicates whether the
planned action is advisable.

It is mainly business oriented and

individual technique. Additionally, it is
applicable in later phases when limited
numbers of ideas were already pre-
selected.
The method
Is usually run in three steps:

1. Definition of all elements causing costs of

idea implementation (includes if possible
direct, indirect, financial and social costs).
2. Definition of all elements causing benefits of
idea implementation (includes if possible
direct, indirect, financial and social benefits).
3. Comparison of sum of all costs with the sum
of all benefits.
