Energy system

There are three energy system

Anaerobic Lactic Energy System (ATP-CP)

provides immediate energy without requiring any oxygen (anaerobic) and does not produce
lactic acid (a-lactic). This include the low intensity physical activities, such as washing your
dishes, walking slowly, sitting up using computer etc.

Anaerobic A-lactic Energy System

Anaerobic A-Lactic energy system is also called glycolytic energy system. An energy system that supplies
energy for medium to high intensity physical activities. These activities usually last from ten seconds to
two minutes. Same alas with ATP-CP, the anaerobic a-lactic system does not require oxygen but is
capable of supplying energy for high intensity activities.

Aerobic Energy system

Aerobic energy system compared to ATP-CP and glycolytic energy system, requires much longer oxygen
in muscles in doing physical activities like long distance swimming, running, and playing sports. These
are the high intensity physical activities.

The Nature of Different Sports Activity

Sports -An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against
another or others for entertainment.

-sports includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or
organized participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing
enjoyment to participants, and some cases, entertainment for spectators. Also sports usually governed
by a set of rules or customs, which serve to ensure fair competition, and allow consistent adjudication of
the winner.

There are two categories of sports:

1.) Individual Sports- is a sport in which participants compete as individuals.

Ex: Golf, Bowling and Weight Lifting.

2.) Dual Sports- are played by two people opposing each other.

Ex: Chess, Badminton and Tennis.

The Nature of Sports - sports by nature is made up of rules. These rule are put in place of several
reasons.

• Rules are put up in sport to secure safety.


• Rules are set up for a sport or game to be playable.
• Rules exist so that the sports is marketable.

Benefits in Engaging in Sports:

• Learning how to set goals, as well collaborating with others in order to attain such goals.
• Learning to follow and respect rules.
• The value of persistence and perseverance is also developed in practices, motivated with the
desire to improve technique and to self.
