Title: Community cleaning service report at Kondo High

Kondo is a Secondary school level institution in Guruve District, Mashonaland


Central Province in Zimbabwe. The Kondo is officially registered in Guruve by the
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education MoPSE, under the department of
Primary, Secondary and Non-Formal Education. Kondo High school is one of the top
best secondary schools in Guruve district. Their physical address: ‘Ward 22 Suogoru
135 km Peg Harare – Guruve Road, Guruve district, Mashonaland Central Province,
Zimbabwe.’

On January 9, 2023, I participated in the community cleaning at Kondo High School


in Guruve. Mr. Moyana assisted me through my thirty days of community service. At
10:00 a.m., I began by collecting rubbish from the Kondo High School vicinity. Mr.
Moyana also assigned me to clean the roadside that leads to Guruve growth point,
which I did. I also cleared the shrubs along the road's edge. Some of my community
service days, I cleaned and tidied classrooms at the end of the day. Rearranging school
furniture in classrooms was also my duty that I was designated. I planted flowers
around the school premises and watering them after every 2 days.

I learnt about responsibility and gain an understanding of life skills such as personal
responsibility. Community service helped me to build connections with different
people even the students. It also helped me to give back value to my community.
Community organisations need the support of local volunteers. I also gained
knowledge of other ways of life.
The impact of a clean classroom extends beyond shiny desks and chairs but also more
engaged teachers. The more teachers can focus on students rather than being worried
about the spread of germs, dirty floors, and smudged windows, then a higher quality
of learning can be achieved. More learning time for students was achieved since they
don’t have to use some of their learning time to clean their classrooms. The students
feel safer with the number of sicknesses going around, students feel more comfortable
going to school when they know their surroundings and the high touch areas within
them have been disinfected prior to their exposure.
