Social media use is thriving since the first platforms appeared in the 21 st century. After
Facebook took the lead, it became not only a platform for personal expression, but also gives
the opportunity to easily share news. Without a doubt social media use is continuously rising
in my country including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. They are extremely
popular amongst the youngsters, and probably it became the easiest and only way of getting
fresh news of their surroundings and the world itself. The problem is that these sites are not
very supervised, they are full of incorrect information, they are misleading as their main
advocate to get as many views and likes as possible. The systems are often biased which
means you can never know what influence they are planning to make. Personally I think it is
particularly exasperating how people fall for the content of fake news and spread them
without making sure it is true. In my opinion it is very important to teach people how to spot
fake news. Firstly they need to know how to recognize fake news. It should rise suspicion if it
has an unbelievable title, it might just be for the likes. It could also be a sign if the article is
misspelled and full of grammatical mistakes, as it shows unprofessional work. A I see the
most important step is to make people understand that not every page is for the creditability
and we need to make our own research, if we want to be well informed. Secondly it has never
been so easy to check on news, people should use google not to let deceive themselves.
All in all, it is not easy to see clear in the online worlds which is full of real or fiction
stories, but the only thing we can do is to be cautious about it!
