‘At approximately 4:30 p.m, on October 18, 2022 I received a phone call ftom Deputy
Public Safety Director Kip Snyder who informed me that one of our fivefighters had been
injured and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. DD Snyder advised me that he had
Just learned of the information when talking to Human Resources on another matter, HR
advised him that the employee was frst seen at Med One before being directed by
medical staff to go to the hospital for treatment. DD Snyder then called me to make me
aware of what was happening.
Because we had not received any communication from you, I sent you a text message
inquiring if we had a firefighter injured, You responded that you were at MP Hospital
with the employee who had suffered an injury (JINN while training, 1 then received
pporiodie updates via text messages that evening as well as the following day,
| We have talked numerous times in the past about the importance of communication,
especially when it involves issues with our personnel, I have asked that you make
notification to DD Snyder or myself when critical incidents like this oveur. However, |
you have continued fo not communicate which not only leaves the employee and our |
agency at risk, bul also hinders my ability to provide proper oversight,
Another example of your lack of communication was brought to my attention by another
department employee who inquired if | wes aware of the department's planned “push-in”™
ceremony for the new fire trucks. Although this is something that | would approve, it was
