Alma Mater Values

Alma Mater is an evolving consciousness with a vision to awaken humanity. Alma Mater has been mentoring hundreds of thousands of people on holistic living. Alma Mater Values expound timeless wisdom in the simplest of words. Here is another pearl of wisdom from Alma Mater, an organisation which truly is the only one of its kind.

I will analyse my experiences and improve myself, by standing apart from myself and practice introspection at the close of everyday.
How often we know 'what to do' before the incident, we also know 'what we should have done' after the incident, and yet, our own knowledge betrays us during the incident! We have solutions to all the problems of the world, and yet, we aren't able to solve our own problems. Why? There is no dearth of knowledge; in fact, there is obsessive accumulation of knowledge. The irony is that our knowledge and our experiences are running parallel to each other. They need to be bridged and that bridge is self-awareness. One of the greatest gifts to mankind is this gift of self-awareness - man can stand apart from himself and practice self-observation. Man alone can analyse his own experiences and improve himself. Man alone can study his own behaviour and either appreciate himself for it or replace those behaviours that he wishes to change. Man alone can not only study a subject, but also become the subject of his own study. No other creation has been gifted with the blessing of self-awareness. Such a powerful inner resource remains dormant in most people. Self-awareness must be nurtured and developed. How? By practicing introspection at the close of everyday. What is introspection? Everyday, before going to sleep, practice a mental run of all your experiences of that day. Recall each one of them. Pat yourself wherever you think you were right. Analyse your mistakes and ask yourself what else you could have done. Introspection helps you look into your actions and gain insight into your thoughts and feelings. Introspection will awaken your inner voice, which, in turn will awaken you. You will find motivation to do more and more of what is right, and you will also discover through introspection that you are not repeating your mistakes. Change the content of a thief and you have a Valmiki. A sinner is transformed into a saint by changing the contents of the being. An atma is transformed into a Mahatma when the content of the being is changed. When man becomes the subject of his own study through introspection, his self-judgement, selfobservation and self-awareness will enable him to change the content of his very being. Man can chisel himself into a magnificent monument. Introspection will bridge man's knowing with man's experiences. Make introspection your dinacharya and I promise, everything about you will change, and hence everything about your life will change. Through introspection you will discover the Guru within
