1 GENERAL
1.1 This standard deals with the classification of precast concrete products for constructions and the related terminology
1.2 The precast concrete products are classified by the following criteria:
- shape;
- field of usage;
- reinforcement degree;
- execution place;
- apparent density of the concrete;
- aggregates used in concrete production;
- concrete compacting procedure;
- concrete stiffening process.
2 CLASSIFICATION

photocopy, micromedia etc.) is strictly forbidden without a prior written consent of ASRO
STAS 8331-69 2
Considering their execution place, precast concrete products are classified as follows:
- precast concrete products made in factories;
- precast concrete products made in special units administrated by construction sites;
- precast concrete products made on construction sites.
2.5.1 Considering the apparent density of the concrete used in their production them, precast products are classified
in:
- precast products made of extra-heavy concrete (over 2500 kg/m3);
- precast products made of heavy concrete (2201…2500 kg/m3);
- precast products made of semi-heavy concrete (1701…2200 kg/m3);
- precast products made of light concrete (1000…1700 kg/m3);
- precast products made of extra-light concrete (below 1000 kg/m3);
2.5.2 The above mentioned classification is in accordance with the prescriptions from STAS 3622-61.
Considering the aggregates used in concrete production, precast concrete products are classified as follows:
- precast concrete products made of natural aggregates;
- precast concrete products made of artificial aggregates;
Considering the procedure used for concrete compacting, precast concrete products are classified as follows:
- vibrated precast concrete products;
- centrifugal precast concrete products;
- vibro-pressed precast concrete products;
- vibro-laminated precast concrete products;
- vacuumed precast concrete products;
- air-placed precast concrete products.
Considering the procedure used in accelerating concrete stiffening, precast concrete products are classified as
follows:
- precast concrete products executed by means of free stiffening, with or without admixtures;
- precast concrete products thermally treated with live steam, warm water, hot air, warming form work,
warming bottom, electric heating through reinforcements.

3 TERMINOLOGY
8 Cellular expanded concrete Light and extra-light concrete, with a spongy consistence.
14 Vibro-pressed concrete Concrete whose compacting is performed by both vibrations and pressing.
Prestressed product which fills the gaps between platform beams in order
22 Filling element
to form a flat surface.
Group of cold drawn wires for prestressed concrete, spun together and
24 Strand
simultaneously stressed.
The process of increasing the mechanical strength of the concrete, after the
31 Hardening binder set. This phenomenon depends on both the type of the binder and
the subsequent treatment procedures of the stressed concrete.
Prestressed Reinforced Prestressed concrete product whose structure also contains reinforcements
38
concreteproduct as resistance factors.
Prestressed plain concrete Prestressed concrete product whose structure does not contain
41
product reinforcements.
STAS 8331-69 6
Three dimensional prestressed Prestressed concrete product which displays an equilibrum of the three dimensions:
44
concrete product length, height or thickness , and width.
Surface prestressed concrete Prestressed concrete product having two dominant dimensions, length and width or
45
product height.
46 Column Prestressed Reinforced concreteproduct with a linear shape and a vertical position.
47 LEA pole Prestressed concrete pole used to support electricity transmission lines.
Prestressed concrete product which consists of a body and four feet and used in the
50 Lectern
execution of dams.
Two or more wire threads for prestressed concrete, twisted or braided, which serve as
51 Prestressing strand
prestressed reinforcement.
