● This is an individual assignment. 


● The submission format is in the form of an E-report. Please refer to the “Turnitin
Submission Rules” that was posted on Moodle.
● The file on Turnitin must be in Word format and include the first page of this cover
sheet. The first page of the cover sheet should be in the picture format in order to
ensure the accepted similarity of Turnitin.
● The similarity allowed is up to 25% after excluding references.
● Name of the file includes Student ID_Unit name_Assessment no. (E.g.
“1010001_POM_A1.1”) 
● Ensure that authenticity declaration has been signed electronically.
● Plagiarism is unacceptable. Students must cite all sources and input the information by
paraphrasing, summarising or using direct quotes. A Referral Grade is given when

Students will understand the key concepts of operations management in an organisational


and environmental context, and how this links to supply chain management, products and
processes, organisational efficiency and effectiveness, and the achievement of tactical and
strategic objectives. A variety of operations management techniques and frameworks will
be explored, including continuous improvement, total quality management, benchmarking
and risk analysis.

You are required to select an organization in the Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG)
industry and do the following tasks:
Part 1: Introduce the organization that you choose
Part 2: Analyze the role and effectiveness of operations management and supply chain to
the organization.
 Describe and analyze the role of operations management in the organization
 Discuss the contribution of effective supply chains to the organization.
 How 10 OM decision applied to meet tactical and strategic organizational
objectives.
 Evaluate the impact of effective operations management and the use of
operational techniques on achieving organizational objectives in complex and
dynamic trading environments, making valid recommendations and
solutions.

Part 3: Assume that the company you select has one of the two operational issues listed
below:
- Overproduction results from a capacity level that is higher than customer
demand.
- Inventory items that were bought for the warehouse are not consumed
 Please select a method for solving the issue, and then explain why you chose
that method above others.
 Evaluate the use of digital technologies to solve your chosen problem and
drive effective operational performance.
 Propose recommendations to solve an operational issue of your choice and
critically evaluate different techniques and analysis frameworks used for
your solutions.
