REVISION TO WORK

DONE AND POWER

Work Done and Power problems
Please solve 2014 Magway OQ; A 30kg boy climbs up by pulling a
rope 10m long with constant velocity for 3min.Find
this yourself the work done and the power of the boy.(g=10 m/s²)
2014 စစ်ကင ို ်း် ; A crane is lifting a 550lb piano
with a velocity of 3ft/s. Express the power of the
crane in hp.
Hydraulic System
A system that transfers
force from place to place using
fluids.
Lever
An appliance which is pivoted
about some point and which
generates a turning effect when
the force is applied at some point
other than the pivot.
Machine
◦ An appliance that enables work to be done. There are three types of simple machines;
1. The lever(eg; a crowbar)
2. The inclined plane(eg; a screwjack)
3. The hydraulic press(eg; brake system of a car)
Mechanical Advantage
◦ The mechanical advantage of the machine
is defined as the ratio of load(W) by an
effort(P).
P12;By using a block-and-tackel a man can raise a
load of 720N by an effort of 200N.Find the
mechanical advantage of the method.
Efficiency
The ratio of output work to
input work is defined as the
efficiency of the machine.
Q. A system of levers with a velocity ratio of 25
overcomes a resistance of 330N when an effort of 165N
is applied to it,calculate the mechanical of the system and
its efficiency.
Q.A machine with a velocity ratio of 8 requires 2000J of
work to raise a load of 1000N through a vertical
distance of 1m.Find the efficiency and mechanical
advantage of the machine.
