SCOPE

This specification defines the minimum general piping material class for design of piping systems
DED EXPANSION NICKEL HEAP LEACH 5.000 T/Y.

The CONTRACTOR shall ensure that all equipment and services supplied meet the requirements of
this specification, and the codes, standards and specifications nominated herein, and shall be applies
to the following project :

REFERENCE

The latest edition of following publications shall be considered as an integral part of this specification.
If there are any conflicts between these codes and other related documents, the more stringent
requirement shall govern.

2.3 General

a. Process & Instrument Diagram (P&ID)


The Piping shall be design as per P&ID and PFD

b. Piping Design
The metric system for dimensioning shall be adopted throughout this project. Pipe sizes shall
however be expressed in inches. And all design requirements must comply with this
document.

2.4 Line Numbering

The pipe line numbering system shall be formatted as per stated on P&ID.

PIPES

3.1 Pipe Wall Thickness

a. The wall thickness of metal pipe shall be determined on the basis of minimum wall
thickness obtained from ASME B31.3 and taking the corrosion allowance and the
manufacturing tolerance specified in the standards into consideration.
b. Pipe wall thickness values that are specified in the Piping Material Specifications are
adequate for the full range of pressure/ temperature combinations tabulated as per JIS B-
2220 or other applicable standard as corresponding approval written by BMR.
c. Non Metal Pipe such HDPE, FRP and PVC, wall thickness must be adjusted to the nominal
pressure (PN) and standard dimension ratio (SDR) for HDPE pipe. Wall thickness
calculation may be required as per vendor recommendation.

3.2 Carbon Steel Pipe

a. All Carbon Steel pipe shall be seamless conforming to, STPG 10 letter symbol of grade or
similar, except for low temperature carbon steel pipe which shall be conform to ASTM A333
Grade 6.
b. All pipes shall be specified with the nominal size and schedule number per JIS G-3454 or
other applicable standard.
c. CS pipe may be supplied in single or double random length.
d. Type of CS pipe used, as per data sheet for piping and fitting.

3.3 Stainless Steel Pipe

a. All pipe shall be specified with the nominal size and schedule per JIS G 3459 or other
applicable standard.
b. All SS pipes shall be in accordance with SUS 304TP
c. Seamless pipe shall be supplied for all SS piping sizes.

3.4 Non Metallic Pipe

a. All non metallic pipe shall be specified with the nominal size and schedule per JIS G 3454 or
other applicable standard corresponding with approval written by BMR.
b. All non metallic shall be using type as per line number system which stamped on P&ID.

3.5 Nipple

All Nipples shall be manufactured from pipe in accordance with data sheet for piping & fittings

END ADAPTOR

4.1 General

End adaptors connected to equipment shall also comply with the requirements of the relevant
equipment data sheet.

4.2 Flange

a. All flanged ends of piping valves, fittings and special items shall comply with the
requirements of this specification.
b. PN 63K rating flanges and below shall be RF, except where specified otherwise in the
Piping Class Data Sheets or P&ID’s. Above of this rating shall be RTJ.
c. In principle, Raise Face flange is used, however Flat face flange may be used for line that
have low pressure and low temperature (Ambient Temperature) or, on line PN 16K piping
system with service such, water, slurry, air, non toxic containing service and not flammable.
d. All CS flange materials shall meet the requirements of JIS G3201, except for low
temperature CS, which conform to JIS 3202 Grade SFVC2.
e. Austenitic SS flanges shall conform to JIS G 3214 Grade F304L and the relevant material
requirements of this specification.
f. Pressure/ Temperature ratings of flanges ½” NB through 60” NB are based on the lates
version of JIS B-2220.
g. All flanges shall be supplied JIS B-2220 dimensions for the specified flange rating.
h. Flange facings shall be in accordance with JIS B-2220 for RF, FF and RTJ.
i. Where flanges mating material is different material, insulation kit shall be applied to avoid
galvanic corrosion.
j. Where flanges mating material is different face to face, spiral wound gasket shall be
applied.

VALVES

a. Valves shall be selected according to the piping class in which they are installed as specified in
Data sheet for piping valve.
b. Valves body and trim materials shall meet the requirement of Data sheet for piping valve
c. All non metallic valve materials exposed to process fluids shall be suitable for the relevant
process conditions.
d. Forged and heat treated materials are acceptable in lieu of cast materials.
e. Repair by welding of cast valves is not permitted.
f. Valve end flange dimension face to face and end to end conform to JIS B 2002 or other
applicable standard corresponding approval written by BMR.

g. Forged valve for size 1 ½” and less shall be minimum class 800, and corresponding approval
written by BMR for standard stated.
h. Valve body shall be JIS G5151 Gr. SCPH2 for carbon steel casting and JIS 3202 Gr. SFVC2A
for Carbon steel forging.
i. Valve body shall be JIS G3214 Gr. SUSF304 for stainless steel body.

PIPE FITTING

a. Fittings shall be selected in accordance with Data sheet for piping and fitting
b. CS fittings shall meet the requirements of JIS G 3456 Gr. STPT42 for carbon casting steel and
JIS G 3202 Gr. SFVC2A for Carbon steel forging as applicable, except for low temperature CS
fittings, which shall conform to ASTM A420 WPL6 or ASTM A350 Grade LF2, or other type
material relevant.
c. Where SS fittings are specified, they shall conform to JIS G 3214 Gr. SUSF304 as applicable
and the material requirements specified for piping in the specification.
d. Fittings manufactured from seamless pipe (for example lateral tees) shall be in accordance to
ASME B31.3 and requirements of this specification and shall have computed pressure at least
equals to the straight pipe from which they were manufactured.
e. Dimensions of metallic butt weld fittings shall be in accordance with JIS B-2312, with socket and
threaded fittings to JIS B-2316.
f. All pipe fittings shall be supplied with wall thickness and nominal sizes that meet JIS G-3454
and JIS G-3459 and other applicable standard corresponding approval written by BMR.
g. Repair by welding of wrought fittings is not permitted.

BOLTING

a. Stud Bolts and nuts may be machined from treated steel rods. However, nuts may also be
forged.
b. Flange bolting for CS lines with a minimum design temperature greater than (-) 40 F shall be in
accordance with JIS G 4107 Gr. SNB7 with nuts to JIS G 4051 Grade S45C.
c. Flange bolting for lines with a minimum design temperature (-) 150 F shall be in accordance
with JIS G 4105 Gr. SCM440 with nuts to ASTM A194 Grade 4.
d. Except for stainless steel materials and subsea service, the bolting shall be hot dipped
galvanized. Subsea bolts shall be PTFE coated.
e. Stud bolts shall be threaded along their entire length and UNC type.
f. The diameters and lengths of bolts and Hex screws (“Heavy” series) shall comply with the
standards JIS B-2220, or other applicable standard corresponding approval by BMR.
g. All bolt must be long enough to ensure that there are 2 full threads visible outside the nuts after
the bolts have been fully tightened.

h. All bolt & nut shall be coated using hot dip galvanized or similar for protection of corrosion.
i. All nuts shall be of the hexagonal type and shall be in accordance with the standard JIS B 1181.
j. All bolts shall be conform to JIS B 1180, where bolt shape and dimension using hexagon head
screw bolt type, metric coarse thread, grade B.

GASKET

a. Generally Spiral wound gaskets shall be used for all flanged joints unless otherwise any
required, RTJ, rubber, or asbestos gasket may be used and as per stated in data sheet for
piping fittings.
b. Spiral wound gaskets shall conform to the following :
 4.5 mm for thickness of gasket
 316 SS Winding
 Graphite Filler
 316 SS inner and outer ring
 Dimension to JIS B-2404 or other standard applicable corresponding approval written by
BMR
c. Non Metallic Gasket shall conform to the following :
 5 mm minimum thickness
 Non metallic gasket only used for flat flange type.
 Type of Material shall have resistance to temperature and service on the line
 Non metallic gasket rubber type is preferred over asbestos type.
 Dimension to JIS B-2404 or other standard applicable corresponding approval written by
BMR

SPECIAL ITEM

Special items must be provided for the piping system contained in the PID.
All special items shall be match the data sheet for piping special items.
The vendor must comply with the data sheet for piping special items that have been approved upon
by the BMR.

INSPECTION AND TESTING

a. Material welded to pressure containing components shall be certified to the same degree as the
pressure containing component.
b. Vendor shall ensure that appropriate certification, showing mill heat or batch markings, is
received for all furnished materials, Materials furnished without documentation are
unacceptable.

c. The certificate to BS EN 10204 type 3.1 shall provided for Pipe, fittings, flange, gasket, fasteners
and other material which not have many component.
d. The certificate to BS EN 10204 type 3.2 shall provided for Valves, Piping Special Item and other
material which have many component.
