Dear Jodi Saad,

I appreciate the opportunity to come into your classroom and work with you and your
students! My name is Candace Halvorson and I am in my fifth year of post secondary. I
obtained my General Studies Diploma from Lethbridge College in 2020 and am
currently in the Bachelor of Science and Education combined degree program at the
University of Lethbridge with the general major streams of math, chemistry, and
psychology.

I was raised on my family farm southeast of Foremost Alberta. I loved growing up

on the farm and being a part of my family’s commercial cow calf operation. I attended
Foremost School from pre-K right through till Grade 12. Growing up my hobbies
included playing volleyball, dancing, and taking part in a wide variety of activities
through the 4-H Alberta program. Growing up in a small rural community I was fortunate
to have some very influential teachers and mentors in my life that made learning lots of
fun.

As I got into my highschool years I enjoyed being an assistant instructor for my

dance club helping to instruct lessons for dancers as young as 3 years old. I also would
organize and facilitate a variety of educational workshops and fun days as a Senior
member in my 4-H district. I loved being able to help others learn and grow!

This passion continued when I moved away to college, I stayed active in 4-H and
became a leader for the South Region assisting with workshops and programming a 4
day winter camp for youth 9-14 years old. And this past summer I had the opportunity
to work as a summer program coordinator for 4-H Alberta in which I was able to
facilitate 8 different camps and work with over 300 kids from all over the province
watching them develop skills like archery, cooking, and dancing as well as have tons of
fun making new friends and building memories that will last forever.

I am extremely excited to come into the classroom to get to know everyone and
to learn more about teaching and learning! The skills I learn this semester will be
incredibly valuable as I work towards my teaching degree and having a class of my
own, thanks for giving me this opportunity!

Yours Truly,

Candace Halvorson (she/her)
