Description of individual tasks

We formed a team of four members for this project & after discussing with all members we
distributed work according to each member’s interest and knowledge & consent.

 Financial comparison:

The main driving factor behind this research and design proposal is cost
effectiveness/minimum cost to accomplish the desired aim and objectives.
My main job is to carryout in dept analysis of the cost involved in performing a single
launch and single capture and de-orbit mission which is already prevalent in the space
industry and also an approximate cost that will be involved in developing our design and
its total cost, including the launch and operational expenses.

This analysis will determine the final design of the project and will justify if our
proposed design will prove to be cost effective even after the initial developmental costs
due to its better sustainability and comparatively a very extensive service life.

 Project Methodology

I chose to opt for this module of the project based on my previous experience in handling
the line maintenance planning of a commercial airline. In reference to this project, I will
be responsible for planning the execution chronology of the mission. To analyze the
possible finite problems and hindrances in the design of our proposed platform and
dynamically adapting to a new design keeping all the limitations (max mission duration
being 5 years and keeping low-cost execution/ sustainability) in mind. Also, modifying
the methodology/chronology in case a modification in the overall design needs to be
adopted.

Apart from the proposed design in the report, there are some other techniques that can be
considered when needed are 1) using a single use fire and forget cartridge propulsion
system, 2) capture and hohmann transfer methodology or 3) enabling the thruster module
to re-trace itself back to the mothership.

Outcome
1. Analyzed outcome on whether the proposed design is financially feasible
2. Reaching a final design conclusion based on engineering complexity and operational
costs.
3. Feasibility of design based on engineering complexity and operational costs.
4. Justifying the initial developmental costs over longer service life and the ability to
perform multiple missions from a single heavy platform.
