ACTIVITY DESIGN

TITLE : Project Assessment on Peanut and Dragon fruit Commodities


Date/Schedule : May 2023
Participants : One hundred fifty (150) farmers
Venue : Provincewide
Budgetary Requirements: ₱80,000.00
Fund Source: DA-RFO 7 HVCDP

Rationale:

The Department of Agriculture currently implements one (1) banner program that boost the economic status of
marginalized farmers in the province of Siquijor. The DA-RFO7 allotted ample funds to support the implementation of
this program focusing the poor constituents who were usually neglected. This specific banner is under the High Value
Crops which caters the needs particularly vegetables, fruit trees, root crops and industrial crops. Under these specific
interventions are the dragon fruit establishment, peanut production and other high value crops related concerns.
The implementation and distribution of farm inputs for the dragon fruit establishment and peanut production
were provided last quarter of 2022. Extension support services such as monitoring, evaluation and assessment are one
of the strategies or activities upon the implementation of this project.
In account thereof, there must be a conduct of project assessment for these two projects which comprises
onsite inspection or evaluation, status of its development including its socio-economic impact whether the project is
profitable or beneficial to farmers, and provision of technical assistance or services.

Objectives:

- To provide support to poor and marginalized farmers to uplift their economic status and conditions
- To enhance peanut production by utilizing potential areas around the province; and
- To enhance dragon fruit production considering its market potential and nutritional benefits that can be
derived out of this crops

Strategy of Implementations:

This is a proposal based project that will be implemented in the province. The Local Executive as well as the
MAO’s/MA will be responsible for clientele identification and or those deserving recipients.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist will provide technical assistance during the course of the
implementation like site evaluation, technical services as well as project assessment or monitoring.

Also, the Municipal Agriculture Office as one of the implementing collaborators is responsible to closely monitor
and supervise the farmer cooperators in their field activities. They will also provide logistics as counterpart whenever
necessary.

Farmer cooperators who serve as recipients will be responsible in the actual management of the said project,
and that all other incidental inputs will be shouldered therein by the clienteles.

As such, cooperators will most likely possess interests, innovative actuations, and must have commitment to
actually perform the newly introduced technology vested upon by the technical personnel of OPA, MAO and DA
respectively.
