ACTIVITIES DURING MY INTERSHIP

During my internship I performed many duties which added lot to my learning and experience. All the
tasks assigned by the news editor gave me a sense of responsibility. There was excess of work load
was divided by assigning tasks to several people, I learn each and every task and make an active
participation in the organization.

The most special thing about this internship was that my spouse was also doing an internship with me
and we completed our master's together and got an internship in the newspaper Ausaf. On this, News
Editor Mr. Ehsan said in a humorous way that for the first time husband and wife have come here to
do internship together and all the people in the shift appreciated our hard work and were happy for
the journey.

I start my internship form January 28-night shift, because in morning I performed my office routine.
After being cut short from the office, going for an internship seemed to be a very difficult process.
The first day proved to be very tiring as sitting up late into the night seemed too much. On the first
day, the supervisor conducted an interview in which information regarding my education and
profession was taken. Right after they say to sit on a computer system. Sub-editor Muhammad Arif,
who was sitting on the chair next to me, asked me a few questions and asked how is your typing
speed.

I informed them about all the details, I am proficient in Corel Draw, Photoshop, Urdu Typing etc. Then
he said that everything will be very easy for you. Because I am already connected with media
department in my office. First of all, Arif Sahib placed the newspaper in front of me and told me that
the newspaper consists of eight columns. According to the nature of the news, it is estimated how
many columns the news will consist of.

The most important news of the day is always placed on the first row and consists of 5 to 8 columns.
After that, they said to study the newspaper for a few days. You should read the newspaper every day
so that you can read the news and know how to get the headline of the news and its subtext.

Thus began my learning process. On the very first day, Mr. Ehsan news editor sent me a news through
portal computer system to know how well I am able to make news based on what I have studied in
my master's degree. It was my exam in which I turned successful Alhamdulillah. The news editor told
me to sit down and told me that the headline I had created was very good, but it was a little long, so
it should not have been made shorter, and the choice of redundant words was kept to a minimum so
that the reader immediately understood the story. I understand the news editor's words seriously
and went back to my seat. In a few days, with the help of sub editor Mr. Arif I making news and
sending it to the news editor under the guidance of the sub-editor.

There came a time when I got the skill to make news and after a week my first news was printed in
daily Ausaf paper. It was the end of happiness for me that my first news was published in the
newspaper. As the days passed by, my grip on making news started to get stronger and many of the
news I made have been published in the daily Ausaf. I was also congratulated by the news editor for
this.

The two months of the internship went by so wonderfully and so quickly that we didn't even know it.
During this period, I learned a lot about how much hard work is required in this field. On the last day
we thanked all the staff members who taught us and made us qualified to work in any news channel.

Conclusion

Ausaf Broad casting and Daily Ausaf is a well reputed news organization. The organizational structure
of Ausaf news is well-brought-up. This internship has given me a chance to explore the real
professional way of working in a channel. The staff was very helpful and friendly, which made the
working environment adaptive and pleasant. I took a deep interest in observing how employees in
Ausaf News Network work together to overcome challenging situations. I learned a lot which
will prove to be a guide line in coming life. In my concluding note I would like to thank those people
who always encouraged me during my internship
