Kaantara is a kannada movie written, directed and acted by Rishab Shetty.
The movie is a collection of spiritual,devotional,social,cultural elements.The word
‘kaantaara’ means –A Mythical forest.
The story begins in the 18th century when a king gives a piece of land to the tribals in
exchange for peace, joy.
Centuries later,the king’s successor tries to threaten villagers during Bhoota Kola to return
the land.But he will die soon.
After 20 years a forest officer Murali tries to put an end to the unscientific rituals of tribal
forest people.
It is a storyline where they have used intelligence to make it a unique experience
It is rishab shetty show all the way
The movie pulls us and make us the part of it. Rishab Shetty’s performance in the last 20
minutes is chilling.
As rishab shetty is from coastalside. His acting is highlighted on the screen
The movie shows the hidden aggressive side of rishab as an actor.
The forest officer role by kishore is also powerful. His bald head highlights his
role and highlights the character.
A lot of attention is given to the making of the movie. It mainly focuses on
folklore.
It includes comedy scenes in the village .
The movie exhibits the culture of tulunadu.
The music is soothing and includes mass and class audience.
Not to forget the supporting actors, who provide comic relief and emotional
undertones throughout the film.
In this movie the religious practice called’Bootha kola’ is shown very
well.During one of those practices the kings grandson asks the god to return
their land but the god refuses to it

socio cultural gathering in the place called ‘kadubettu’ village in
kundapura.It dates to 1990 where people takes place in fair where
there will be cultural relegious activities will be conducted.
There is gathering of the people coming together which makes a
society.
Kambala is one annual buffalo race held in the southwestern Indian
state of Karnataka. Traditionally, it is sponsored by local Tuluva
landlords and households in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada
and Udupi of Karnataka and Kasaragod of Kerala, a region collectively
known as Tulu Nadu
Overall though, this is film that one must watch just to understand the dynamics
of a life lived in interior parts of Karnataka.
There is Kambala, and Bhoota Kola, and then there is the story itself that rings
true which is captured with stunning visuals. All of this, makes for a film that is
definitely worth your time!
