Learning Task: Writing a Summary

Direction: Write the summary of the stories Bowaon and Totoon, and Sicalac and Sicavay.

Bowaon and Totoon

The story began when these men made the decision to leave their home to look for work.
Bowaon's impatience is revealed during their many struggles while Totoon's optimism and
kindness are contrasted by the difficulties they faced while searching for employment. As they
came to the King's Palace, they were both recruited. Totoon was the secretary, while Bowaon was
the cook. At this point, as resentment began to consume Bowaon, he began to plot a wicked
scheme to harm Totoon's reputation. He intentionally endangered his friend by telling the King
lies. Totoon was tested by the king because of Bowaon's lies but at the end he was able to
succeed on all the trial with the help of an old friend who he helped before.

Sicalac and Sicavay

Then Captain made the decision to plant a bamboo in the garden, the narrative began. The

bamboo eventually expanded, split in two, and a man named Sicalac and a lady named

Sicavay emerged. Sicavay was asked to marry Sicalac, but she declined because she felt it

was improper because Sicalac is essentially her brother. They decided to ask the

earthquake, doves of the air, and tunas of the sea for assistance because Sicalac is so

persistent.All of them agreed that Sicavay and Sicalac should get married so that the world

will be populated. They decided to go ahead and get married and they had a son named

Sibo and a daughter named Samar. Sibo and Samar had a daughter named Luplupan who

also marries her brother named Pandaguan and they had a son named Armanor.

Pandaguan invented fishing net which allows him to catch a shark which dies right away

because of a long time not being underwater. Pandaguan cried loudly to the Gods. The God

sent wervils to know the reason of Pandaguan's grief and when they found out they struck

him by a lightning. Pandaguan stayed at the infernal regions but the Gods took him and

Pityon and send them back to the world found out that his wife, Luplupan became the

concubine of Maracoyrun which made him to get really angry that results of him leaving the

world and swearing not to return anymore.
