CHAPTER 3

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This section encapsulates the overall outcomes of the analyzed qualitative data

after a series of semi-structured interviews and analysis. This is a presentation of the

informants’ answers in response to the specific problems with corresponding conclusion

and recommendations based on the salient findings of the study.

Summary of Findings

Based on the presented and gathered data, the researchers found out about the

struggles of the students' in low income household, the challenges and their coping

mechanisms.

The factors why students migrate from rural to urban areas is because of

education, a good quality education for there are a lot of opportunities here found in the

cities both in scholastic and economic; and students also want to learn to be

independent, to manage things on their own without the minimal help of anyone.

The consequences or the challenges that the students faced while living

independently are homesickness, the desire to go home and the longing for the love,

attention and care of the family; and inability to set priorities properly, the inability to

balance their time accurately.

Students coped up with these challenges through their motivations by having a

positive outlook, to think of the bright sides of life; and having someone, with the help of

this someone, they were able to cope up with the longing they felt and were able to set

things straight.

Conclusion

Based on the findings, the study revealed that being Independent; living far away

from home is extremely difficult as the student has to face/ experience a lot of changes

from what he/ she usually used to do or lived to. Students faced a lot of adjustments

from their environment and familial relationships. Despite this, the students were able to

conquer the challenges that they had faced.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusion of the study, the researchers

recommended:

1. Parents or family of the students may provide support to their children by making

their learning experiences healthier by supporting their academic pursuits or

supporting them with anything that they can, giving them the love, care and

attention even though they are far away from each other.
2. Future researchers may have a similar study, with the focus on the effectivity of

the coping strategies employed by these students, since it was not given much

attention in the current study.
