THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

ABSTRACT

This study explores how the student creates ways to maximize their time in
working and in studying. The said study also aims to investigate and identify
students' experiences while working. They are starting at how difficult their
situation. Next, the problems they encounter. Then, how they deal and cope
with such difficulties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the
experiences of working while studying. In this study, a qualitative study is
used. It is a subjective report which made utilization of a phenomenological
way to deal with accumulating important information. The method that is used
in the process of making this part of the study is the Snowball technique. Based
on the participants’ responses on their perceptions on working while studying,
it is confirmed that financial support, self-development and internal motivation
to integrate theory and practice are among the driving forces of working while
studying at university. The findings also show that the participants have happy
feeling and good time management. Moreover, it shows that the effective ways
of overcoming the problems they encounter is through good time management
and self-reflection. The last research question intended to ask the participants
their suggestions and recommendations for students who have similar
condition. Among the suggestions are the students who decide to work while
studying must be first of all committed and disciplined.

Forming the Student normalizing there strategy and time being suit and rural
self control in their emotions looking at their own past glory in studying and
not expecting the money they have been given by their parent
Rationale:
Continuance commitment is essential in our world today because employees have the fear that a loss
of their jobs will affect their income and their livelihood. This is not an exception for working
students. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippines has recounted that eight of the
students are working student. Work-study is also an accepted practice of the most Seventh-day
Adventist universities. This study seeks to investigate the continuance commitment of the students as
related to compensation and social support. This study is correlational research design. Out of the 4
student, working students in senior High 2 were randomly sampled to answer the self-constructed
questionnaires. This study revealed that there is a high positive significant relationship
between compensation and continuance commitment and a moderate positive significant
relationship between social support and continuance commitment. Also, there was no significant
difference in continuance commitment based on sex, age, and the number of units of the working
students. Balancing school work and a social life while coupled with the newly found freedom of
living away from home is often a formidable challenge. Add a part-time job to that mix, and the
burden can become overwhelming, affecting all aspects of a student’s life and his physical and
mental well-being
Statement of the problem
The Researcher Target the Main Problem of the Student’s time and even in the pandemic
conclusional theory of us researcher knowing the value of studying and working at the same time day
by day work in the sent Working students that are working off-campus tend to have few friends in
the campus because they are not always around. These students have less time socializing and
enjoying and cannot establish relationships because of their work outside the campus. This may also
lead to depression and drug abuse to students.

This study focuses on the problems encountered by working students of the and its effect ontheir
academic performance as basis for a proposed action plan.

Particularly, this study attempts to answer the following questions:

1. When did you start working? What kind of job do you work now?

2. Since online class how do you manage your prioties to meet deadlines in your school
activities?

3. What are the common Problems you experience if you have tight schedule in online class
and your work?

4. Do you still complete your sleep before going to your work and taking an online class ?
how did you manage it?

5. As a working Student how difficult time management for you? Explain your Answer.

6. What are the solutions will you do if you have online classes and work at the same time?

7. As a working Student do you think that you can still maintain your academic
performances while you are working at the same time? How?

8. Do you have free time? What do you usually do when you have free time?

9. What are the Reason that you are a working student? How much time do you have to do
your School activities? How hard it is?

10. As a working Student what will you advise to other working students like you have that
are struggling during these days?

General Statement
Filipino students are still able to support themselves financially through working although they have
financial problems. Filipino working students namely online jobs, paid corporate internship, fast-
food crew, and school jobs. Filipino students are struggling because they have to meet the standards
in their work so that they will not lose their job and maintain academic performance so that they will
not get a failing grade.
Scope and delimitation
The Researcher choose this question so that it will remain from forming it’s our own will and the

students' lost confidence to enroll and are dropping out and started to find a stable job.

Investigating the experiences of working students is the purpose of this study, on how hard
their encounters are, to know the significant differences between working and non-working students.
Next, to gather relevant data on how did the working students’ cope up with their struggles and
difficulties. Also, this study aims to know the motivations of working students. Lastly, to fully
understand the experiences of a working student and to help the students shortly to understand what
it takes to work while studying. In generalization, this study aims to grasp the essence and entirety of
a working student's life

Researches about working students are mostly conducted at universities in developed

countries, but those researches lack knowledge about how working students face their everyday
lives and how they conquer every problem they encounter working student reached an abnormal
state, job-hiring started to show the negative impacts that were attributed to it since it lessens
instructive fulfillment and scholarly execution particularly among youthful laborers without school
training. On the other hand, if working at a young age proves to be a favorable aspect of the
economy.

METHODOLOGY
The method that is used in the process of making this part of the study is the Interview
technique is a non-probability sampling method that was employed to draw up a sample of
participants who provided adequate information for the investigation. Which we ask them the
Questions Some have answered the it is not easy to be a working student and some answered it is
neutral because they have still have time to the projects through the entire year of the semester and
even the last semester of the school activities making such time included the online class pressure
day by day even so the student remain calm and make their own time management depending on
their classes time.

Result of the Study

Recommendation

In this stage, the researchers are able to give recommendations to each person who is involved in this
study.

• To the working students. Treat the time for studying like the time for working. You should balance
your time for both. Time management is essential in working while studying.

• To the future researchers. Increase the number of participants to attain more key themes and more
accurate results.

• To the teachers. Motivate your students to pursue and reach their dreams. For them to never give up
and surpass all the challenges they encounter.

• To the parents. Still guide your son or daughter by providing special time and making them feels
valued. This boosts their abilities and strengths.

•Set Realistic Goals You might have decided that this new phase in your life should mean a whole
new you, which can lead to some overly ambitious goals. You might initially feel like you can eat
healthy meals, study for an hour every night and work out every morning, but trying to implement all
of those big changes at the same time is a recipe for failure.

•Prioritize you time’s easy to put off a little bit of work here and there, especially if you don’t have
parents or teachers looking over your shoulder. To avoid last-minute cramming or feeling swamped
by your work, be sure to set aside small chunks of time dedicated to completing assignments.

•Learn to Say “No” It will take some time to adjust to your new workload. You will be flooded with
requests to join clubs, fraternities and volunteer causes, but you shouldn’t add on any additional
stress until you can handle it. Maintaining your school, work and home life should be your first
priority; other opportunities will still be there later.

Related Studies and Literature

There is a diverse division that depends on the company that they apply and the company which offer
an adequate rate to suit theneeds of its student workers. An amount that abides in order the student
workers can able to continue their traditional university degree. Student roles including the full- time
and the part-time workers. Full-time workers render duty from 6-8 hours, while the part-time is 4-5
hours
College students force to work during their pre-college and post- college year. They sought to retain
a social connectedness to their families because they believe they are now to help their parents
Students start to work as early as 15 years old. Work and education in an adolescent life is a primary
domain These students also try to support their studies and their families These students are probably
still on their elementary or high school level. Student engagement is widely understandable in work
and study. That needed more focus and dedication. By this they can attain greater attention. Even if
they are a little bit bother of the errands on their respective working place. Krause said “the time,
energy and resources are designed to enhance learning in both school and work”. Students who are
working while studying in college find their part-time jobs beneficial and on the other hand,
problematic. Beneficial because of the income they can get. It provides a positive educational
benefits on students. Seeking job students can enhance their skill which is more needed in the
industry. Thus, companies who are encouraging the students to work are continuing to develop their
program to provide the needy and aspiring applicant to have a settled job in a near future career. It is
also beneficial if the work is related to the students chosen course. This may be particularly
beneficial as an aid to academic knowledge and career prospect. On the other hand, it is problematic
because, when working long hours, As reported by Steinberg engaging students in part-time and
some full-time employment is progressively a common phenomenon everywhere. As also stated in a
study 30 years ago, working while studying provides students with quite naturally an indication of
the requirements that will be needed to function effectively in one's later career In recent years,
further studies found that students who are working part-time can easily develop team cooperation,
customer care, communication, and practical skills Students can have the prospect to directly relate
the experiences of working part-time to enhance and refine their academic knowledge, motivation
and employment prospects. Thus, some researcher have concluded that a combination of financial
needs and the opportunity to gain experiences will ultimately enhance career opportunities in the
future. According to the research conducted by Watts and Pickering, while working part-time and
studying full-time has a variety of positive outcomes, respondents generally viewed part-time
employment as a necessity to survive in the contemporary higher education sphere. In Manthei and
Gilmore's study, it is understandable that the money earned from part-time employment is spent
usually on essential living expenses. From the perspective of students themselves, part-time work is
often an introduction to the real world which will assist them both in personal and career
development especially in the higher education sector. Higher education institutions should identify
opportunities to increase the extent to which students could be more familiar with work and expose
them to educational, part-time vocational and career experiences There is a wide variety of studies
that examined the impacts of part-time employment on full-time students. Based on the research of
Manthei and Gilmore for instance, considered that working part-time leaves less desired time to
study. Also, Jogaratnam and Buchanan specified that new students who choose to do a part-time job
while having full-time academic load were most likely to suffer from stress and sleep deprivation. As
many studies
