● Grammar: Past simple

I Grammar
Quy tắc thêm “ed” ở thì quá khứ đơn như sau:
Với những động từ tận cùng là “e” ta chỉ cần thêm “d” vào sau cùng mà thôi
Ví dụ: Love – loved; like – liked;
Với những động từ có một âm tiết, tận cùng là một phụ âm mà đừng trước phụ âm đó là một
nguyên âm ta sẽ nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “ed”
Ví dụ: Shop – Shopped; tap – tapped;
Với những động từ có 2 âm tiết tận cùng là một phụ âm, đứng trước phụ âm đó là một nguyên
âm thì ta phải dựa vào trọng âm của từ đó để quyết định xem có nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi
thêm “ed” hay không. Trường hợp trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết đầu thì ta không cần nhân đôi
phụ âm cuối mà chỉ cần thêm “ed”. Ngược lại, nếu trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2 ta sẽ nhân
đôi phụ âm cuối trước khi thêm “ed”.
Ví dụ: Enter – entered; cancel – canceled; commit – committed;
Với những từ tận cùng là đuôi “y” mà trước đó là một nguyên âm, ta chỉ việc thêm đuôi
“ed”; Còn nếu trường hợp trước “y” là phụ âm thì ta sẽ chuyển “y” thành “i” trước khi
thêm “ed”.
Ví dụ: Stay – stayed; cry – cried;
