At the age of 3 Jose learned prayers and

the alphabet
José Rizal was a very prolific writer from
a young age. When he was 7 years old,
he wrote a play that was staged during
the town fiesta
At 8 Rizal wrote his renowned poem
entitled "Sa Aking Mga Kabata"
He also learned 21 language.

At this school, he read novels; wrote prize-winning

poetry;He studied mathematics, rhetoric, and Greek, and
he must have progressed much, for at the endof the year
he-obtained five medals.
Wrote a poem, “Un Recuerdo A Mi Pueblo”, (In Memory
of My Town).
Mi Primera Inspiraccion (My First Inspiration) - written in
Ateneo, dedicated to his mother. It was written by Jose in
1874 when he was fourteen years old.
he wrote more poems:
Felicitation ( Felicitation)
El Embarque: Himno a la Flota de Magallanes (The
Departure: Hymn to Magellan’s Fleet) and so on.
During his time in UST he wrote numerous poems, plays,
and other literary pieces; he joined contests and emerged
as the winner several times
A La Juventud Filipina (To The Filipino Youth) - won first
prize, written at the age of 18 when he was in UST.
