pen, so I always have it in my bag). Encourage other Ss to ask follow-up Qs (e.g. What do you usually write with your
pen?) MODEL FIRST(=name your 3 things and explain) and then give Ss 2 min to prepare; (12 min)

2. Vocabulary:

a) Ask Ss what they need English for, how long they’ve been studying it and why they like it.

b) Test 1: p.8 ex.1A - Ss work individually and match the word to the definitions (WordWall); then ask them to check
their ideas with other Ss open-class, when they are done, provide the correct answers;

c) Teach: deal with the difficult words from ex.1A (only those that Ss don’t know or don’t understand); first explain
the meaning and ask CCQs, then model and drill the pronunciation;

d) Test 2: Vocabulary Extra ex.1 (do the first one together, give Ss 4 min to do the fast individually, then ask them to
check all together; provide correct answers and deal with the mistakes they made);

e) Get Ss to discuss the Qs in ex.1A (send 2 Ss to a breakout room, give them 3 min and ask to discuss 2 of the Qs;
whole they are discussing, you talk to the 3rd student and discuss the two questions; then change partners, send the
person who you talked to to a BOroom and send one person back to the main room, repeat the procedure);

f) Content feedback: day what you remember about the students and ask Ss what they remember about their partners;

g) Language feedback: write 2-3 mistakes they made on the board and elicit the correct answers from them; write 1-3
good phrases that Ss said and praise them. (40 min)
