A. Reviewing Previous Lesson (5 minutes)

B. Establishing Purpose for the Lesson

This lesson aims to teach the students on using modal verbs correctly to a
sentence.

C. Presenting the Lessons/Examples: (5 minutes)


Before introducing the lesson, the teacher will give a dialogue between a two
kids. The dialogue of Lovely will be read by girls and Noli for the boys.
At the school gate,

Lovely: Can I go with you?


Noli: No, you can’t!
Lovely: Please, I must be home
before it gets dark.
Noli: Really? Ahhm, okay!
D. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills (20 minutes)
Modals are a type of auxiliary that expresses an attitude to what we say. They
expresses how certain or uncertain we are about an event or how willing or
unwilling we are to do something.

Ask: How can we apply Modals in our daily
life?
Modals are important in our daily life conversation
because it can be a great way of expressing our feelings and
intention using the different modals. Also, it gives
emphasis and clarification when it comes on stating or
saying something.

F. Developing Mastery (Group Activity) (5 minutes)

The teacher will divide the class into three groups.

Instruction: Each group will have their own task. The first group will be
performing a song using modals, second group will do a drama, and third group
will make a dialogue. The group with a creative presentation will be declared as
winner.

G. Making Generalizations and Abstractions about the Lesson (2 minutes)


1. Ask the students what is Modal.
2. Let the students create new sentences using Modals.
3. Ask them what will happen to a sentence if a Modal is attached.

Instruction: In your ½ crosswise sheet of paper, construct one sentence for each
modal.
